Scams at best. Make sure you're not in ECON mode before you start looking to aftermarket.
Thanks but no, in Drive or Sport most of time. Biggest gripe is when downshifting with paddle going into corners, what should be a momentary "throttle blip" is extensive and actually makes the truck initially accelerate. HP claims are only proven if you dyno prior/post and I have not found any online

. . . where-as I'd think that at best you'd see a 5-15 hp increase along with a requirement for Premium Unleaded. Perhaps as much as 10-20 hp if you combined it with a free flowing Cat-back exhaust & good cold air kit. That and maybe firmer shifts.
And the possibly the ability to too 'correct' speedometer error if you install bigger tires.
But at what costs? (Initial purchase price, increased fuel costs, impact on warranty, and possible reduced longevity/reliability)
#none4methanks

I've had these in my Gen1.

They improved the ride substantially, especially when I was on the road late, past my dinner time.
I think the performance would be equivalent in a new Gen2.

Lots of good folks around here who might be more helpful.
Welcome to the ROC.

You might be feeling the dog clutches on 5th and 7th. 5th gear is direct so 6-9 are all overdrives.

I have a 2024 Black Edition, hate the shifting and low power, considering a chip. Any advice? Any experience with chipyourcar.com? Thanks in advance
There are no performance chips for the G2 Ridgeline.

1) make sure Eco is off,

2) you might try a throttle enhancer like Pedal Commander (there's another popular one, but i don't recall the name). They don't increase performance or add any horsepower, but they do make the throttle more responsive, which seems to impress a lot of folks.

Yeah, the downshifts that involve the dog clutches in the transmission are annoying, particularly in S Position or manually shifting in either D or S. The worst was on an icy mountain road and trying to shift to engine brake downhill and it suddenly accelerates. Talk about a come to Jesus moment 😲

A few people have said that installing a VCM defeat device, such as the S-VCM Controller, improved their transmission shifting feeling, particularly when slowing to a stop. Personally, I didn't really notice a difference. If you are indifferent about VCM, I probably wouldn't recommend spending the ~$100 on it hoping that it will improve shifting.

To your original question, I haven't seen anyone here having one of those from the company you mentioned. A few people have used Pedal Commander and Sprint Booster to modify throttle response. Obviously it doesn't actually give you more power...

Personally, I'm dubious of a device that simply plugs into your OBD-II port and claims to increase power at all, much less 45+ HP and improve fuel economy. This is not a real ECU tune like Hondata or COBB. Also, as far as I can tell, this is not a piggyback tune/device like a JB4 that sits between various sensors and modifies those signals before reaching the ECU. I'm pretty sure the only performance increase from a device like this will be from wallet weight reduction 💰🔥

I fell my two ridgelines ran better in regular drive mode, with ECO off, and not using "sport" mode which is actually sequential. I don't like to run my truck to much higher RPMs at every shift. It does make a lot of noise, but really doesn't go any faster.

This has been posted here before, but I like how this guy tested it, especially in considering the claimed benefits vs. the actual benefits - we need more analysis like this in the world of dubious marketing claims!

This is not the pedal commander, but the same kind of device.

Back in the early 1960's when I was a kid some reporter asked a famous race car driver for suggestions on a "performance tune-up". The racer replied, "Move the seat forward two inches and install a weaker throttle spring". These devices are essentially the electronic equivalent of his snarky advice.

I'll bet most of those chip thingees are bogus, any gains are minimal to non-existent and prob mostly at RPMs most cars never see regularly.

As to old "tune up" ticks, owners could play with their ignition advance map and carburetor components to get an actual "seat of the pants" performance gain, I've done it many times.

The slight acceleration is so the dog gears will mesh properly in the 9 speed transmission.

What do you think one of primary effects of switching from ECON to SPORT is on a GenII??? The computer changes the throttle mapping. What do you think a device like the Sprint Booster does??? It changes the throttle mapping. So do you think there is no effect when you switch from ECON to SPORT??? . . .
There is a big difference between a device like the Sprint Booster and a "performance chip." I can promise you the SB makes an appreciable difference in the driving experience of my 2014 GenI Ridgeline. In the case of the GenI, there is no "mode" button (sport, econ etc) to push and driving it in stock form the vehicle feels sluggish and reluctant to downshift. After the install of the throttle signal modification device AKA Sprint Booster and adjusting the settings, the vehicle driving experience is much sportier and downshifts occur much more naturally. No power is added and if you mash the throttle with and without the device the results are the same. That said for daily driving it makes a huge difference. If you own a GenII and want to further modify the throttle settings then a device like the Pedal Commander or Sprint Booster might make driving more enjoyable. The effects are most definitely real but it is not a power adder.
Honestly if you are lumping a "performance chip" in the same category as a throttle modifier you really are missing something in your understanding.

I usually ignore this stuff, but WTF are people trying to do with their vehicles? I drove 7,000 cross-country this summer. Mountains out west, thin air at altitude, 80mph speed limits, cold, heat, AC on, AC off, completely packed to the roof bed with a topper. Never left ECON mode, never used sport mode. Had zero issues trying get on the highway or passing or anything. If you want a performance vehicle, they do make them ya know. The comments about "sluggish" are just flat out weird...cuz is just flat out not. Do what you want with your cars, but jeez...WTF with the whinging?

Sluggish? Did you miss the part where my vehicle is a GenI? Have you ever driven one? Whinging?
