Quiet roof racks, is that anything like military intelligence? I have never had cross bars that were quite. Some were less noisy than others and spacing does matter, but quiet, never.

My Thule aerobars were loud (or at least audible) on my Impreza. I don't think it's possible to make quiet cross bars. I had no option of moving them since they were mounted on feet.

I moved my Yakima roof racks closer together to install a cargo box. And l can’t believe the minimum wind noise while driving View attachment 434213
Lemme give you some old school advice that will cost you basically nothing: Take some black paracord, and wind it around each crossbar (about 10 complete wraps per bar, spread out evenly across the width) and then tie off the ends solidly.

It's the same principle that semi trucks use when they put on flat tie-down straps over top of their open pallet loads. They always twist the straps, never leaving them flat, as flat will vibrate and hum, where as twisting them will not do so.

There are videos about this on youtube for those wondering.

See below for quieting your crossbars....
If you're referring to moving the crossbars, I didn't watch the video linked, that's not an option with the Thule/Impreza combination. It has two threaded holes 1 inch apart on each side in the front and the same in the back that the Thule feet attach too. So I only could have changed the distance between the bars about 2 inches.

TL;DR My bars were at fixed mounting point.
