Bummer. Wife was driving mine last year and she got dinged by a "real" truck that couldn't stop. Just he bumper showed as damaged but the wiring harness for the reverse sensors was broken also.

That looks VERY similar to the damage to my 2019 back in June. Had to wait 3 months for the parts to fix interior bed damage. After $10,000 repair was completed, the emissions light came on. Long story, short, wound up replacing gas tank and cannister to the tune of $4k. Luckily the other person's insurance covered all without hassle. Good Luck!
Yikes! For my truck of course the guy said he knew how to fix trucks and would do it off the books. I passed on that suggestion and I'm very glad. There's no way he'd have been able to deal with the sensor wires and the paint match.

I bet the other guy in the OP’s case didn’t have insurance. Or does Canada have some sort of universal insurance?
It varies province by province up here but most will have something to assign the fault to the right party. The thing is you have to catch the other driver though so if it's a hit and run you can be left holding the bag.

Great job passing on his offer! NEVER...EVER let anyone that hits you fix your vehicle unless you want a hack job. Let their insurance company handle it through a reputable shop that offers a lifetime warranty on the repairs.

Yeah it's a real mistake no doubt. What you could do is report the accident and then pay out the other parties costs. That way you are clear and your record resets to clean faster. I'm not sure if you can stil do that. It's like 15 years since I last made a bad call.
