Was driving down the interstate last week at 70 mph. Sunshade open about 5 inches. All of a sudden I heard a loud bang and the sunroof shattered /disintegrated. Particles of glass rained down into my lap. I was 50 yards behind the car in front of me and I didn't see any rocks or debris flying toward me. Has this happened to anyone else on the forum?

It happens. Has happened to glass forever.

I had glass shower doors shatter into thousands of tiny pieces. I'm in the living room and hear a Strange noise in the bathroom. It was the glass cracking. It stayed in the frame even until I tried to remove the doors.

I had a Ford C-Max and the back glass did the same. I remember a guy many years ago on a really hot day pulled under a shade tree. Front windshield just shattered.

Glass is a funny product. I have seen rocks bounce of windshields, even coming out of a lawn mower and into a sliding glass door and nothing happened. I just leaned on the windshield years ago and it cracked. Another one way I came out to my car in the morning and the right side rear door window was shattered. All of the glass was on the driveway and none inside. It had been very hot the day before and the glass just exploded outward.

Pressure can also cause glass to explode. Were any windows open? You say the sunshade was opened but any windows. Was it windy?
