Hi all, I apologize if this question is already answered, but I’m having a hard time figuring out if and why I need a brake controller. I’ll be getting a 2021 RTL soon and I assumed if a trailer has electric brakes, the 7 pin trailer plug would communicate/engage the brakes if needed. If so, what’s the point of a brake controller? If it doesn’t do that, why not? That seems like something that should be built in? Do other trucks have this same situation? Thanks for any clarification you can provide.
