Hey everyone

I had this press release from Honda today.

All new Passport will be unveiled before year end.

The Trailsport at least will have the 10 speed transmission (I assume the other trims, too.).

I speculate any new Ridgeline forthcoming will have the updated Passport features?

Hopefully an electonic parking brake, too...........

Best

Siouxsie

Remember when Honda lied (exaggerated) at the auto shows for the introduction of the Ridgeline by putting on larger wheels (that rubbed) to make it less wimpy looking. And then continued to lie (exaggerate) on the literature with the photo of the rear doors opening wider than they can (including the tailgate)?

I wonder if the wheel wells are larger and can accommodate larger wheels? Gotta say, it doesn't look half bad for a unibody grocery SUV with rugged tires. I just wonder "what" they are stretching the truth on. At first glance the clearance doesn't look that high. But, I do wonder when the first person will put those rims on the Ridgeline, though, they look good.

I'm gonna consider a Passport when it's time to trade in my 2018 RL (about a year and a half), but I'll wait till after the first model year for Honda to get rid of some of the first year gremlins.

I am right there with you on the Passport.

Maybe the 2024 Rebelle Rally is more about the drivers than the vehicles? If you follow the GPS paths I see team 208 (Passport) skips many locations.. I wonder if that is a limitation of the clearance? I wish they could blog during the event.

But it is only half over. The Bone Stock Bronco Sport is killing it, though.

So is everyone else it seems, rookies or not. The Subarus doing well, the one from '14 is within 5 points of the Bronco Sport.

Is there only seven teams in this category? Top ten either ways.... 👍

If you'd look into the rules, it's not that easy. It's a compass and map based race with checkpoints. Some of the checkpoints have to be reach within a time frame. There's no GPS and internet access allowed; that in itself makes this race hard. Certainly, experts at compass and the provided map has a sizable advantage, not to mention prior experience in similar races.

It sounds like fun race, regardless where one finishes. The last time I've done a compass and map race on foot, there wasn't even Internet/GPS available at all, nor weere there any smartphone at the time. There were roughly 1,500 college age people in the race through the woods. Quite a few people, included myself, did not finish, but it was lot's of fun.

Good job to the Subie team. Also the Bronco sport and BMW did nicely respectable. The 2026 Passport came in last with less than 1/2 the points and locations.

Still curious if this was due to the skill of the two Honda engineers driving or the capability of the vehicle.

I think it is mostly the skill of the drivers, somewhere in the 75%-95% neighborhood. I wonder how much the respective manufacturers train their teams?
