I have some nice scratches on my used RL, Will touch up paint work? Kinda funny but almost every RL i have seen on the road has scratches on the bumper corners.
You would have to use a very fine brush to just fill in the scratched impression. Then buff and buff with a clear coat safe polishing cream. I also have a single 1 inch length scratch. I am reluctant to use paint on it. I will continue to polish and polish until it is not as noticeable.... In my past touchups, they do not look very good. I am using a Maquires scratch remover.

good luck.

How deep are they? Have you tried wet sanding and polishing the scratch? Check out this video for more info.. Good stuff!!

Not that I need it yet, but I think one day I may coat the rear/front bumper and the lowest portions of the side trim with color-matched Line-X. I've seen some pice of this and it looks very good and makes future maintenance null and void.

Here's the link Rick. No Ridges, but will give you an idea.

I have one long scratch on the rear bumper as well and they're clear through to the bumper so it's black on Dark Cherry Pearl.

I picked up the Honda OEM paint pen/brush. Has anyone used the OEM touchup paint with decent results?

I'm afraid to try as well because I don't want it to look worse but the scratch with the black showing really bugs me!

They are in California. If you give them your paint code, they will match your paint color perfectly. Plus, they will provide you with all the other materials necessary to do a good job.

The paint, adhesion promoter, primer all come in "rattle cans"---(spray cans).

I repaired my rear bumper with their products. It turned out OK, even though I am not skilled in the use of those materials.

If the scratches are just in the clearcoat, you can polish them out with rubbing compound. But once you see black at the bottom of the scratch, they have gone all the way through.

You can dab at them with a paint pen or brush or do a proper job with spray cans. Just make sure you use the adhesion promoter so the paint sticks if you are spraying.

Rehashing this old thread as I have a similar issue.

I was handwashing my RL in my driveway Monday evening. After wetting her down, I used a old, clean, cotten T-shirt that I plunged into a bucket of plain carwash I picked up at Auto Zone. While removing bug splats from my front bumper one particular one did not come off with a couple swipes like the others did.

I used my thumbnail to remove it and it was actually the black of the bumper under the paint. When I used my thumbnail I noticed I peeled back a tiny bit of white paint just above the black mark. I stopped and left it be as I did not want to continue peeling the paint off that area. Guessing something bounced off the pavement and nicked the paint off. I've seen only scratches on my other vehicles bumpers if something from the road hit it, never the paint peel back like this.

Is this something I might take up under warranty or do I just need to fix it myself with one of the methods offered earlier in this thread? Thanks for any/all replies.

Hi to all!!
Today i want to ask that I washed my black Ford KA and waxed it but some wax got onto pretty much every one of the plastic bumpers (I thought I could just wipe it off). But it looks as though I might have wax-stained bumpers forever now as I've tried using soap and water and it doesn't make a difference. Does anybody know if anything works or if there is a specific product I can buy. Any suggestions would be great.

Washing with Dawn detergent is one of the most effective and safest way to remove wax from auto painted surfaces.
