I'm working on a project trying to see if I can install my line of fire on to the bottom of the tailgate. Before I crack open the tailgate I want to know the possible number of clips I might break. Can someone with a service manual please tell me the number of clips that connects the tailgate trim to the tailgate? Thanks....

I have an extra set of the used ones I ended up when I replaced my topper that came with all new ones. You are welcome to some if you end up breaking any.

I don't think I have broken one yet, removed the topper 4 times for various installs such as camera, tailgate lock, and the new topper.

I'll save you the effort. It won't work. I already tried it. It hits on the plastic trim right above the crease and will smash the the clear plastic case. I tried it with and without the mounting tabs. :(

The only mounting option is where RustyH mounted his in his pictures. I don't have any pics of mine yet or I'd show you how I mounted mine which is exactly the same as Rusty's.

I'm looking to move it to another position then my current one due to stepping on it and from things accidently being dropped on it when taking things out of the trunk. I put a nice crack in it the other day had sealed it up with some epoxy.

If it was dismantled, is there any room in the trim itself? That would be neat....

I would love to put it in my tonneau, but I don’t want to do a poor hack job.

Thanks for the heads up before I gave myself a headache.
