The LEDs in the headlight assembly are not serviceable. Either there‘s a wiring/control problem external to the headlight assembly or the headlight assembly needs to be replaced. The list price for the headlight assembly is $1200. Might be worth a day’s time to get it repaired under warranty.

just got back from the dealer, yes, you are correct, new headlight assembly. will be covered under warranty.

Also, for others, apparently there is a TSB recall on certain honda vehicles with leds

Not aware of any safety recalls for DRLs but Honda extended the warranty for 10 yrs on 2016/17 Accords to cover DRL LED failures (TSB 19-042). I believe this is the 1st report of a DRL LED failure on the RL.

Another expensive reason to purchase an extended warranty.

Honda Care (US) and Honda Plus (Canada) don't cover "bulbs" that are intended and expected to be replaced such as incandescent and HID bulbs. LED lighting is intended and expected to last the life of the vehicle and IS covered.

My Honda Plus contract (which might have a revision date of 0120 based on what’s in the far right corner at the bottom of each page) says, in part:

”All Vehicle components/parts …………. are covered except the following:
MECHANICAL: ……………… lights (light bulbs, sealed beams, lenses, headlights, alignment)………..”

I do not see in the contract document any exemption to the above for light fixtures containing LED’s.

So, my interpretation is that since the LED DRL is a component of the headlight, and the lighting for the headlights themselves are non-replaceable LED’s they are both not covered by Honda Plus.

i am in the US if it matters, but the service guy showed me some honda document, but it had accord at the top. either way they are replacing it for free

just a heads up to others if you have the issue. service guy told me they have replaced quite a few on ridge lines. as fyi, i bought a few cars from this dealer (included my gen1 ridge) and have never paid for service there, so its not like i am a valued service customer lol

I suspect he just likes to hear himself talk considering that yours is the first report of its kind that I've seen on this forum or the second generation Ridgeline owners Facebook group.

I bet if you ask him about a 6-speed transmission failure, water leak, or broken tailgate wiring harness on a Ridgeline, he's never heard of such. ;)
