Both sun visors, driver and passenger, are extremely stiff to both turn down and up. I can see the mount in the headliner flexing at I rotate the visors down or up. I can only find one screw. I can't see the screw, just feel it on the windshield side of the vertical arm that attaches to (through) the headliner. But, since that screw is on the vertical section and not the horizontal that appears to be the rotation point for the visors I have not tried to loosen it yet.

Any advice appreciated. These visors adjust so stiffly I'm afraid they will eventually break.

In follow up, I was mistaken about the screw it appears. I used an endoscope camera to take a photo of the rear of the visor post. It is a little blurry, but I see no screw in the hole on the support.

i've got a 2019 & the passenger side has become super stiff to move & won't return all the way back up any longer. the driver's side is very stiff as well. before i start taking these apart just wanted to see if anyone else had the same issue. thanks in advance.

It’s a safety issue, if it’s still under Warranty — I’d consider taking it to a dealer for a repair.

I waited too long on one of my Tacoma’s and it ended-up costing me $225 for a new one.

I have a 2019 Rtl-E and am the original purchaser. Both visors are very difficult to move up and down. I searched the archive for an answer to this, and the only hit was someone who asked the same Q about a 1G truck, without any comments or suggestions posted.

Any suggestions for a fix would be appreciated.
Best,
Dan C.

I found the answer searching for sun visors. Apparently this is a pretty common flaw with the visors and lubrication does little to nothing to help the very stiff resistance to movement and droop when supposedly in the full up position. I have a 2019 RTL-E model with 84K miles. I ended up ordering new visors for both sides from hondaautomotiveparts.com. There is a trick to removal and installation, a plastic tab you have to press in from the backside (stupid design). Search YT for Ridgeline sun visor replacement. New ones work smooth as silk. Wonder how long that will last...

Brian,
Thank you, thank you. Definitely will go the replacement way. Really appreciate you taking the time to respond. Best, Dan C.

Thanks, Juan. I tried WD40, and I guess it helped just a little, but It sure made it squeak. I’ll try the silicone.
EWWW NO.

WD40 is not a lubricant. It can break things free if they are sticky, but it will itself become gummy after a while.

You'll love this: . On my 2019 RTL-T model I have used the Drivers side Sun Visor a lot since new. Mine has gotten VERY stiff to fold up and down in the last year. It now requires 2 hands to 'operate'. Yet it slides back and forth on the metal bar effortlessly! lol All else on it looks brand new. Was thinking of spraying the bar with dry silicone powder or something but it looks majorly sealed... Can't even find the screws that attach the assembly to the roof! lol Sounds like buying a new one is in order. I'd be OK with a hundred bucks if I could find the silly screws! :) Thanks for your info!

Thanks a lot! Talk about Modern! lol :O I'd be surprised if my Dealer has anyone who has actually Done one of these. Let alone has Any familiarity with the operation. UNLESS. It is the same on the Pilot etc. and other 'Family' vehicles. What an Eye Opener. Amazing . Thanks! Most appreciated. :D

Thanks so much! After reading the guide posted before this I thought I was crazy. After reading IT a few times I understood what to do. Your great video actually SHOWS the hole to put the screwdriver into. .......Mine has NO hole! Looks exactly the same but NO HOLE! :O lolol Obviously another 'improvement' added to MY 2019 model! Well. At least the silly thing still works. I guess for now Two Hands it is! Thanks again folks for your help. Most appreciated :)
