Wondering if anyone has purchased a Ridgeline from or sold a Ridgeline to Carvana. What was your experience like? Were you satisfied with the service and price?
A friend of mine had a very similar experience with them recently when he sold them his wife's SUV - and it was the same $4K more than a new car dealer was offering. The only difference was that they came to his house to pick it up.I sold my Silverado to Carvana about 2 weeks ago. They offered $4k more than the local dealership and $2.5k more than Carmax. The process was super easy. I had to submit some pictures then setup a time to drop off the truck. I had full payment in my bank account the next day. They didn't drive the truck or even lift the hood(kinda scary considering the money they gave me for it). All they did was turn the key on to verify mileage.
How was your Carmax experience? I've been contemplating using them as they have a much bigger selection than any local dealers. They also quoted me $2K more on a trade VS Carvana or local dealers. We bought 2 vehicles through Carmax this year. Both came from other states but we didn’t have to pay shipping and had no obligation to buy them. When I was shopping for vehicles I noticed Carvana prices were always much higher.
Good point on the taxes, that is something to consider. My state is the same way, I would have paid about $1800 less in taxes if I would have traded my truck in but not enough to make up for the $4k difference that Carvana was giving me for my truck.A friend of mine had a very similar experience with them recently when he sold them his wife's SUV - and it was the same $4K more than a new car dealer was offering. Here in GA, sales tax can be an factor when selling and buying: GA law gives dealers an advantage by allowing you to only pay sales tax on the difference between trade-in amount and your out the door price on another vehicle. You don't get that if you sell it outright and it can be thousands of dollars in sales taxes since there is no cap.
I sold a vehicle to Carmax in 2017 which was seamless. Buying was relatively easy. Like I said I requested they ship the vehicle I wanted. I was given a test drive with no obligation to buy. I liked it and bought it. Had 30 days to turn it back in if I changed my mind. Had to replace the brakes after a couple months (front brakes chattering on downhills) and replaced the battery this winter. Other than that no problems with an 8 year old Ridgeline. The other vehicle a 2020 Forerunner no problems after 3 months. It only has 23000 miles. They will charge if they ship from faraway states. Shipping is free from nearby states. How was your Carmax experience? I've been contemplating using them as they have a much bigger selection than any local dealers. I've sold to Carvana which went seamlessly, money was in my account that same day. I would never buy from them though. They've been known to cover up all sorts of issues and are super slow getting plates\registration.
