Never had to jump my Ridgeline until today. Don't remember leaving lights on or anything else that would have killed the battery last night but this morning she was dead. Have another vehicle so I took that instead. Tonight I went to jump the Ridgeline and any time I hook up the black (neg) cable to the frame or the neg post on the battery, the horn starts going off, like it does when you hit the panic button. Tried to push the panic button to turn off and it does not stop. I started the Ridegeline and it did not stop, I disconnected the cables and it did not stop.

Now I could just turn up the radio and drive around but I don't think my fellow drivers and neighbors would like my horn going off all of the time.

What am I missing? Anyone ever have this happen before?

Could your vehicle battery be on it's way out?

When it's going off, what would happen if you hit the panic button?

When a battery gets low everything can get scrambled. Sometimes you have to disconnect the battery and charge it, then reconnect it.

Until you disconnect the Ridgeline from the power source, it can't reboot.

We really need an answer to jumping here...

Jumping is a very common thing and pulling the battery is not always possible...

Is pulling the horn fuse REALLY the only way?!?

HELP!!!!!
You don't have to remove the battery from the vehicle, just disconnect it for a few seconds so the alarm and computer can reset. At that point it would be nice to have a trickle charger to get the battery topped up.

Re-read the whole thread.

When my battery went south I jump started it at work and had no issues at all. No horn, no problem with the alarm. Jumped it from a battery pack that the security patrol has. Truck fired right up and took the jump start off and it ran fine. Of course, it did need a new battery and these trucks reall do some odd stuff when the battery dies.

Have you tried turning the key in the drivers door?
According to my neighbor, who just had this problem with her Odyssey, the trick, is to lock and unlock the driver's door with the key, perhaps multiple times.

I've not had this issue arise yet. But I think her battery died and she had to jump it off or something. I've had to jump mine off after draining the battery so flat the interior lights would barely glow, but never had this issue on my RL... yet.

My own rule of thumb, on any vehicle regardless of how
many kilometres on the odometer is change the battery every four years, preferably before winter.
Newer vehicles ie post 2000 construction the electrical systems are
so very complicated and any voltage fluctuation could mess the entire system.
