Called my dealer concerning the headlight auto dimming feature in my month old 2025 RL. Once activated the hi-beam cycles off and on continuously remaining on for only a couple of seconds at a time. Driving the Interstate (88) south of Albany at 2am. No traffic to speak of. Dealer was not aware of any existing related issues with the RL. My previous vehicle (F-150 Lariat) had this option and it functioned properly under the same circumstances.

What would you all want to wager Honda doesn’t read this. If they did, it’s probably some intern just jotting down, “Someone is complaining about flickering headlights.” I’ve started the opening wager with a 3D printed cup ring. You will never win because Honda doesn’t know how to respond to social media.

Meanwhile the wealthiest guy on the planet with the most popular vehicles comments on anything… sooo… what would you feel today’s modern practice should be? :)

Maybe Honda could answer questions and concerns once in a while? It does require someone to understand something new and modern though… maybe someone in the office with a computer or a phone that gets email. Not somebody from the HondaLink dept.

My 2024 does exact same thing. Loved the feature on my previous vehicle but not the Ridgeline. It seems any street light activates it.

Street lights, road signs, lights on houses near the road... it truly sucks on my new 2025!

My wife's Subaru works as it should, so did the loaner VW I had after my 2018 RL was totaled. Honda should be ashamed of saying this is a working system.

I asked if it could be adjusted at the dealership - their answer was "No, it's just better to turn it off." Love the Ridgeline, hate this "feature".

Welcome to the club. Can confirm that issue goes back to 2021 models, and I believe all Gen 2 trucks.
2017-2019 Ridgelines used a dedicated camera for the auto high beam feature. Starting with the 2020 model year, this camera was eliminated and the function was incorporated into the existing "multi-purpose" camera which effectively ruined the feature.

I have not had mine long but we took a night drive and noted every light source or reflective surface turned off the high beams. Now this seems to include simple solar lights at the end of a driveway. That said I'm old school and can simply control mine manually. I need to dig a bit more as I have not read the manual cover to cover (only had it a little over a week and had lots going on) but I seem to recal the ability to set the sensitivity. Maybe that was for something else though.

I was very disappointed that Honda ruined the automatic high beams - feature I have come to use, appreciate, and rely on in my last several vehicles.

My newest vehicle has adaptive driving beams, which go above and beyond automatic high beams by leaving the high beams on more often and dimming only individual areas around other vehicles. Having had that feature for a couple of months now, I never want another vehicle without it and can't wait until the technology makes it way to more makes and models.
