Does anyone know if there is enough room (depth) behind the top "cubby" hole just below the rear seat A/C vents to put this USB adapter in place ? Its about 1" long....I don't want it to interfere with the console "rolling" door...

A while back, I needed to disassemble the rear console in my '21 RTL to research adding something (I can't remember anymore).

@zroger73 sent me the following instructions that were very helpful. I did not fully remove the console, but I did get the outer panels removed.

I will also include the pictures I took of that rear section. Hopefully, this will help you. If I recall, removing these panels were not that difficult.

Good luck, @fdeno.

Big help thanks !
I just want to add a quick USB plug for rear charging for kids as we leave FL for a wedding in GA in a few days, don't need anything complicated or want to wait for factory parts...

Just curious...
Why are you looking to do this? For a functional USB interface to the vehicle or mostly charging, etc?

You most likely have an unused connector as part of your wire harness. But you would need the honda section for the USB.

Very cool and that will be my long term solution, in the meantime the USB extender/mount in my first post fit into the lower rear cubby, kinda sorta...when I pushed the rear trim piece back on it angled upward but is secure and does work. Its actually easier to see and plug into in this configuration so I'll just leave it for now,

I've decided to take your idea and my advice. In going to add one to the back of my center console. And, at the same time, I'm going to add some switched lighting. To light that black hole that that area can be sometimes.

I'm using this as it has a surface mount option...

Unless you fabricate a new cubby panel that sits farther rearward (like one member did out of ABS pllastic) anything that has depth beyond the factory cubby cover will hit the back of the center console structure - there is NO space back there. So the options are flush mount and the device others have shown with the dual ports and light from Amazon is ideal, but requires direct wiring from a power source and not just plugging its cable into an existing USB to make an extension. Folks should read the reviews on that device though, as there are more than a few negatives about how bright the LED light is and the difficulty in accessing the ports through the little sliding doors.
