Now if they made them for the new SGP color.

I don't mean to bash anyone's ride (or woman)... everyone likes what they like. But count me in the group that dislikes these for 2 reasons. First, they look out of place and #2- they don't protect anything. I opened the front & back doors on the RDX, and even with these moldings it could still get dinged really bad. These are just an afterthought, like all the other ''official'' accessories. Speaking of...

I spent a lot of time looking through the whole list of 'genuine' accessories and studied how they worked. They either fall into one of two categories for me: #1 useless fluff (a lot of dealers push this crap in their "packages") or #2 looks good superficially but I would lose major functionality.

I have a cheap product off Amazon called “Ding Bats” for my now gone Forester. They are nice foam rectangular blocks with magnets inside. When in a tight or suspect parking spot Id pull them out of the hatch and deploy them on the doors. They work. Can some clown just steal them ? Yep, but thats never happened yet and Ive parked in some shady places. Lol
When I return I simply pull them off and tossed them back in the hatch back.

At some point you simply can't protect from everything. I was at a stop light under an overpass in my 63 Corvette (see avatar) and some yokel threw a 1/2 full soda can off the overpass and put a nice ding in my hood all the way down to the fiberglass....unbelieveable.

I prefer a large roll of bubble wrap and some scotch tape. Five minutes after I park, I have the whole truck protected from dings :).

Now I’m curious. I’m going to look at where typical shopping carts come up to the side panels to see if the BSMs provide any protection against marauding trolleys. I got them to protect against door dings - the BSMs on my 2015 CR-V were very similar, and the dings they took were proof they were doing their job.
Reviving but one of the issues I have with BSM is that these are more or less permanent on the truck once installed. You now see dings in the permanent BSM vs the door panel. Is that really a tradeoff?

Well I got the 2022 BE and decided to go ahead and put on the BSM. I do like the clean look without them but I have to say they're not too bad, I'm kind of getting use to them now. Anyway I know a door ding is still possible from the idiots out there but at least I know this will help. View attachment 425671
So now you will get dings and scuffs on the now permanent BSM vs the door!

The BSM's are not really susceptible to dings to the same degree that metal on the vehicle is. They certainly can be scraped up a bit, but I would much rather have the BSM absorb the impact.

Doing something like that in a parking lot would make a great 10 minute video....truck sitting in an empty parking lot, fully bubble-wrapped, only to have the car plowed by another car doing 60mph.
