I still dunno.

I've got 16,000 miles of full warranty and 86,000 miles of battery/motor/inverter warranty left on my Model Y.

I have funds for a Cybertruck.

I have enjoyed and continue to enjoy my Model Y, but there are many improvements to the new Model Y that I would like to have.

It seems pretty clear to me that I no longer have much interest in owning the MX-5 Miata even though I would probably miss it on the next warm, Summer evening.

It is also pretty clear that I really have no need for a truck, so my reasons for wanting a Cybertruck are:

  • It is dramatically different than anything else
  • It would be fun to talk about with friends, family members, co-workers, and others (at least for a while...until the novelty wears off)
  • I nerd out over the some of the mechanical and electrical engineering aspects that make it unique
  • I like the high-power AC outlets for camping or home backup
  • It would be nice not having to worry about getting door dings in parking lots and be able to sand out scuffs and scratches without the expense of repainting

What I don't like about the Cybertruck is:

  • The lack of sleeping accommodations in the cabin
  • The fact that it uses 50% more power than a Model Y. Currently, I do most of my Model Y's charging at free-to-me public charging locations without minimal inconvenience. More power use would require me to do more charging at home. Realistically, we're only talking about $30 more per month for electricity, so this is completely insignificant to me in financial terms - I've just grown accustomed to nearly free charging.
  • The high maintenance of the stainless steel exterior - or at least the perception of it. I know how to keep my stainless steel appliances looking new, but they live indoors. I have no experience maintaining a stainless steel automobile that is frequently exposed to rain, road film, bird droppings, tree sap, insects, etc. Maybe it's as simple as carrying around a can of Sprayway glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth - I don't know because I haven't tried it. I have decades of experience maintaining painted vehicles. Stainless steel requires new and different care.

I currently have non-traveling dogs that are getting older and keep me from being away for too long else I have to board them or hire a sitter. When they're gone, I plan to travel farther and more frequently than I currently do and am considering buying a small travel trailer (I've been eyeing Casitas for a while, which can be pulled even with a Model Y).

If I were to buy a Cybertruck, I would probably keep my current Model Y and sell the MX-5 Miata. The problem with this is that the Model Y is bigger than the MX-5 Miata and wouldn't fit in my garage with the riding mower.

If I were to buy a new Model Y, I would probably keep the MX-5 Miata and sell/trade my current Model Y.

Ultimately, buying a Cybertruck would be the most fun, but least convenient choice. Buying a new Model Y would be the second most practical option. Keeping my current Model Y would be the most practical option.

Ideally, I'd like to buy a Cybertruck, a new Model Y, and a shed/shop/building for the other items currently taking up space in my garage, but that's more money than I am willing to spend and is as close not being an option as you can get.
Perhaps it's time to go test-drive a Lucid, or even a Genesis...

Interesting. I love how bad my 2023 Miata is. It leans like the tower of Pisa. I instantly turn the traction control off and I dukes of hazard everywhere. Rowing the gears is so zen like. The top down is so lovely. It's such an awful car, whenever I think Im going fast, I look down and I'm still going speed limit. It's so bad, it's wonderful. I look forward to making excuses to drive it just for the sake of driving it. I have some pretty empty canyon type roads here so perhaps that helps. But even in town, it's just so stupidly fun.

I also enjoy my more serious cars for similar stupid reasons. There is so much joy with with taking a road to nowhere, with some songs, and just the fun of endless possibilities. All to just get to some dive burger place or something.

That said, if there's no joy in it for you, then I certainly see the utility in being FSD'd. Although I have some joy when I get to experience FSD, as I nerd out thinking about the machine learning training and how that pans out through the software and trying to guess how it's working.

The journey is the reward.

But as always, YMMV
It is way more fun to drive a slow car fast than to drive a fast car slow.

The 1960s cars i drove in the 70s were exhilarating to drive at 65-70mph, wven though they had big-vlock V8s. In contrast, modern cars are boring at 80 mph. Sometimes there is something good to be said about NVH.
