I am looking to do a simple stereo upgrade. I want to replace my door speakers and add a powered bazooka. I am wanting to put 6 1/2 full range speakers in the doors but everywhere I have been looking tells me they wont fit. I thought I have read more than one thread about 6 1/2's going in our doors. If so how much modding was there or were they a direct fit? I dont really want to cut half my door out. Also anyone who reads this give me your 2 cents on the brand you have chose. Not much around here to choose from.

Thanks in advance for any guidance you may offer,
Eric

i have 6.5 kenwoods in mine, so 6.5 fit with no mods, check with crutchfield.com

as for brand kenwood SUCKS!!!! im really getting pissed at myself that i bought them, as soon as i can i am going to replace them with some Pioneers or Pioneer Premium
you could try Polk audio they are a bit expensive though about $100 a pair

oh and also you will needthese crutchfield supplies some but with the ones they give you have to drill into the door these ones just snap right on

I replaced all 4 stock with Infiniti's a while back (from crutchfield), and yes, the interior door panels need to come off. It's not too bad, do a search for it, as I recall someone posted complete directions and pictures for front and rear speaker replacement.
IMO, the new speakers make a big difference...

Much discussed topic, using the search function:

this might help:
http://www.mobiletoys.com/partners/JBL/Default.aspx

You can then search the speaker model to find out it's dimensional size. From what I could find there is 4" front and 3.5" rear depths. Should be more than enough for any non-competition type speaker.

I'll be going with JBL since I get them for cheap-- and have never been let down by their products in 12 years. Hard to beat :D
