2019 RTL with 86k miles.
Warning came on, stayed 2 days then cleared.
I am inclined to cancel the dealer appointment and wait for it to return.
Thoughts?
My 2007 check engine line has been on for years... Occasionally the flashing "D" thing happens... Even the VTR (?) light comes on and stays on... No Mechanic has ever been able to figure it out short of replacing sensors... They use that plug in computer thing and they're off for a couple days... Change your fluids, follow the Maintenance thing and hope for the best... Nobody takes real pride in their work anymore, do you? AutoWorkers are no exception... They work just as hard at getting things right as you and yours do... We need our people to be great again...

How do you get through emissions? We were told we had to wait until the light was off for 100 miles before we could return, even with all the receipts and documentation of repairs.

I had to call American Honda Customer Service with a code report provided by O'Reilly Auto Parts (free) and my explanation of how many times I've seen the Emissions Systems Problem error message and had talked to the dealer (Clark-Knapp Honda, McAllen, TX) about it several times to no avail. This got American Honda to admit that it sounded like I was eligible for the extended warranty and they issued a incident number (or whatever they called it) and told me to take the car to the dealer and direct them to run a full diagnostic on my Ridgeline and then contact American Honda with the number they gave me. After that was done the dealer contacted me and proudly announced that they would fix my Ridgeline under full warranty, as if they had achieved a warranty repair for me.

just saw this, reminds me of my own post several weeks ago regarding intermittent "emissions system problem" light with code P0430...has came & went several times this spring...dealer replaced ECM for $1,600 but light came back on less that 50 miles later...and then it goes off with no intervention...currently keeping a log of on/off timing for combat with Honda later this summer. Some very good comments offered to my post, looks obvious that Honda has an electrical-based problem here that may involve the battery or malfunctioning sensors(?) leading to ECM confusion on fuel/ignition thus aggravating the O2 sensor..so it's no really the cat itself. Hope this helps.

This happened on my 2017. They told me I needed new fuel injectors, but they were going to cover them too. Odd that it showed up as an emissions issue, but whatever. I brought home a 2023 instead.

I would never add snake oils to my fuel systems for one I seriously doubt you can get them to the injector at an adequate concentration -to do anything. Other than maybe damage something.... Sure there are ways to physically and chemically clean them, but I believe that entails actually removing them. Again, YMMV,
I had a emissions system CEL come on at 60k miles, mountain driving, 1/4 tank of fuel. I cleaned the fuel filler door areas up, filled it with gas, and the CEL went away. Could be as simple as a pressure the system sensors is expecting, is not within spec. Had an emissions cel more than once on CRVs (With actual gas caps) that were either aged and not sealing, or had not been reinstalled properly after fueling....

I have 2019 Ridgeline with 65k that the emission light turned on. I went to a auto parts store to have it checked . The reading stated my fuel injectors need cleaning or replaced. Let know your findings. Ron

This happened on my 2018 Sport with 50,000 miles or so. It was the fuel injectors which is a known issue that eventually Honda covered fully if < 100,000 miles. Your message might not be that.

It happened to my 2019. It sometimes had the AWD warning too. Did you get the fuel pump recall? Mine came on around 120k and was intermittent for 3 months. Took that long for the dealer to get fuel pumps from Honda. The dealer couldn’t find anything wrong and cleared it twice in that period. The truck ran fine. It went away permanently after the fuel pump was replaced. 142k now.

My experience with the "Emissions Systems Problem" certainly left me feeling significantly less satisfied with both American Honda and my local Honda dealership, from whom I purchased my 2019 Ridgeline. It seems likely that American Honda probably knew what was going on with my truck, although the VIN did not match those apparently eligible for the recall service they had out. Why that was I don't know. American Honda directed the dealer to run a "diagnostic", which I assume they had done before...but, maybe not the same diagnostic tests, I don't know. I know the dealer recommended a "fuel injector cleaning" after that last time I took it in with the "Emissions Systems Problem" error message complaint. I approved the "fuel injector cleaning" and the truck seemed to run a little better, so it was probably necessary. But, the "Emissions Systems Problem" error message returned. That is when I contacted American Honda direct. Once American Honda agreed to take care of it under the extended warranty they had the, now cleaned, fuel injectors replaced. I should have demanded a refund for that service but I was pretty disgusted with the whole affair and didn't bother. I purchased my 2019 Ridgeline with the intention of it being the last car I own. If I could afford a new loan, which I can't on Social Security income only, I would trade it in on a Toyota, even thoughI've avoided the local Toyota dealership for years because it has the most annoying sales staff.
