So after dealing with my steering wheel sensor and blown fuse, now my engine light came on. I took it over to Autozone and the computer is giving:
P145C-EVAP System purge flow malfunction
P0497-EVAP canister system low purge flow

Their system suggested replacing the canister purge valve, a $112 part plus whatever labor to put in.

In the past 3 weeks I have had the "check fuel cap" warning come on intermittently. Not a surprise after 9 years in the AZ heat. I am wondering if this might be causing the error codes, and causing negative pressure for the gas fumes. So I replaced the fuel cap, a $45 part that I can replace. I know I might still need to get the canister valve replaced, but I figured my fuel cap needed to be replaced anyway.....

My question is, if that is the fix, will the check engine light clear itself, or do I need to go in and clear all the codes, and see if it comes back?

Since no one chimed in with info, I will share my experience on this.
I replaced the fuel cap, and waited a few days. After 3 days of driving, the check engine light went out. So far, it has been out for several days, and no more errors or problems. /fingerscrossed
