CR's car battery ratings are "all over the place".

Where Everstart batteries, specifically, fall in the ratings varies by group size and market.

For group size 48 which the Ridgeline uses, the Everstart MAXX H6 they tested rated last and is not recommended.

that battery price is only $110.00, MAXX only sold at Walmart. We are talking another model right?

Did not know they sold batteries without a pro-rated warranty ???
If you buy a Honda-branded replacement battery, it comes with a 3-year 100% replacement warranty.

Correct. CR didn't test the Everstart AGM H6 so we don't know how it rates - it could be even better than the ones they tested or it could be even worse. My point was that brand and model are not reliable indicators of how "good" a battery is - there are other variables such as size and market that affect a battery's ratings.

Naturally the Honda dealer recomends buying the Honda battery as they say it is designed along the lines of a marine battery for extended draw down periods of use where non-marine batteries are not. I do not know who is right as to longevity, but believe I would go with the Honda battery since these vehicles are loaded with electronics and these dealers typically look for any reason to deflect from a service problem so why give them a reason ?

I had to replace the battery on a Ridgeline 2019... and I picked a Walmart ( which is everywhere), to replace it with EverStart H6.
The battery fit nicely and charged fully to 12:80 after 30 minute drive.. but I got on the screen which stopped working : to press the power button for more than 2 second, without success then the screen came out with #'s : 0 to 9 to enter the PIN...? Anybody knows what that is?

• Select START DIAG.
• Press and release all of the buttons on the steering wheel that are shown in the InLine Diagnostics screen. The
icons should turn green.
• Press and release the Talk button. Make a loud sound (like snapping your fingers or clapping your hands), or say "Testing" in a normal voice toward the microphone in the ceiling console. The mic level indicator should reach at least six bars.
• When you have completed all of the tests, the icons will be green. If any of them are red, troubleshoot the applicable system. Refer to the service information. Select EXIT DIAG to exit the mode.
• Turn the ignition to OFF, then to ON, to make sure the InLine Diagnostics screen does not reappear.
