Fumoto Drain Valve installation problem!

I attempted to install the Fumoto drain valve on my 2008 RL yesterday and I ran into some difficulty.

I purchased the extension and the valve with the nipple for attaching a drain hose. After I installed the extension I was unable to install the valve itself because the edge of it came in contact with the metal shielding around the exhaust pipe. It would not make even one rotation to get it threaded on.

I removed the extension and connected the extension and valve together. Then I attempted to attach them both to the oil drain pan, but had the same problem with it hitting the shield.

Has anyone else encountered this problem or am I the only one lucky enough to have a specially configured RL?

I did not get under the truck far enough to figure out if I could loosen up the shield or not.

Thank you for your help.:D

Yes I had some problems with the installation... doubled the washer and was able to fit it in; but when the time came to change the oil, I couldn't budge the lever/handle to unlock it (i guess it has to do with the way the RL was lifted)... so, i said the heck with it, and used my Mityvac with no fuss or mess; and from now on, I will be doing the same without crawling under the truck... I will leave the junky fumoto in place, unless it starts leaking: Personally I would not recommend that valve to anybody if he has a pumping tool like a mityvac or similar; because it does do the job without any unforeseen aggravation like the Fumojunk.
