Finally Ready for the Ridgeline Life — and the Build to Match

Hey all, I’m Harry — 56, based in St. Pete, Florida. After months of research (and probably too many YouTube deep dives), I’ve decided the Honda Ridgeline is the truck I want. It just fits my life.

I ride motorcycles, coach bodies and minds, and spend as much time as I can near the water — especially kitesurfing. I needed a truck that could handle beach runs, haul gear, carry my dogs, and still feel comfortable driving around town. The Ridgeline kept rising to the top. Understated, capable, smart — just like I want my gear to be.

Now I’m planning a build that matches my lifestyle:

  • Beach-ready setup – bed rack for kiteboards and bags, in-bed trunk for wetsuits and sand-covered gear, maybe even a rinse system.
  • Weekend escape rig – platform bed for beach campouts or mountain runs, with a simple modular system in back.
  • Suspension and tires – light off-road mods for soft sand, dirt roads, and spontaneous adventure detours.
  • Lighting and power – better visibility for early kite sessions and sunset breakdowns, plus power for charging gear or running a cooler.

I’m all about simplicity, durability, and freedom. I want a truck that lets me go from kite session to coaching client without skipping a beat.

Stoked to learn from you all and see what you’ve done with your builds — let’s make these trucks work and look good doing it.

Catch you out there,
—Harry

I'll always remember impressing one of my college English professors with my liberal overuse of em dashes — she told me she loved them.

She did correct me, though, as I had incorrectly used a hyphen in place of an em dash.

I still make that error today because it's much faster to type a hyphen than it is to press ALT+0-1-5-1 to make an em dash in Windows.

That reminds me of another reason I hate Windows and love MacOS...

I often use symbols such as ¢ or ° which requires holding the ALT key and typing a four-digit code in Windows. On a Mac, you just hold OPTION+0 to type a ° symbol, for example, and OPTION+$ to type a ¢ symbol — that makes a lot more sense to me than an arbitrary four-digit number.

I have no problem conversing with AI models - I do it frequently, but I want AI models to identify themselves as such so that I can make an informed decision as to whether or not I want to speak with them and how I interact with them.
