Another Noob,

Sorry for the delayed reply, but yeah I've had the wiring harness replaced (as per TSB), left speaker replaced, and amplifier replaced and the noise is still there. I'm taking the car in for service later this week and I'll ask if they've got any updates since they were going to check with Honda Tech.

Hi. I have a high pitched sound (electronic noise) coming from the speakers--and not road noise. I'll explain. In my Ridgeline B.E. it's from the phone. Perform this test. Park in a quiet area, with radio volume very low. Listen. Now have someone phone your bluetooth connected phone. Listen. Do you hear the sound coming from the speakers? Now here is the super annoying bit: hang up. On my truck and the one in the showroom the high pitched sound keeps playing. Only way to stop it is turn off the truck and restart it. Dealer tells me Honda is working on it, but it has been over 2 months. Very annoying. The dealer and I tried 2 different phones and 2 different trucks. Same problem.

If others are hearing the same thing, please hassle your dealer and Honda, so maybe they will truly try to resolve this (and the many other fours identified issues).

Update: checked several other Ridgelines on the lot and they all make this sound. However, some are louder than others. Also, even the Honda Pilot has this issue.

Happy trucking!

Same in my '17 RTL-E. After a Bluetooth call ends, I'm left with a constant, faint, high-pitched, fixed-frequency tone. I found that pressing the TALK button on the steering wheel to invoke the voice command prompt then canceling it makes it go away.

I also have a different faint, high-pitched whine that varies with vehicle speed (not engine speed) that is most pronounced around 45-55 MPH and most noticeable after having driven 15-20 minutes on cool mornings.

If this noise problem is insufficient shielding in the dash wiring harness, why would you replace it with another stock wiring harness. There has to be a new harness that has been properly repaired with new shielding if you ever hope to fix this issue. That means a new part number that distinguishes it from the defective stock harness. You can't replace a bad part with a bad part and expect different results.

ok, this noise is driving me nuts and i've been looking for the correct post. I'm in Canada (Calgary) and noticed it stands out in warmer temperatures compared to the cold.
I've called the dealer (Okotoks honda)and they want $125 to tell me what the problem is, so i called honda canada instead and started and ticket/case about the high pitch sound.
it's not going to do very much until more people call in and tell them about the sound. I've also refered them to this site to review the threads. I'll call back next week to see if anything comes out of it. If you have a spare 20mins give Honda Canada a buzz and start a ticket/care.

Why is a Honda dealer trying to charge you to diagnose a problem on vehicle that is presumably still covered under the factory warranty? The vehicle is less than three years old and I'd be very surprised if you had more than 60,000 kilometers on it already. Am I missing something?

Yup, I've heard this same noise as well and it is clearly different from the one I described earlier in this thread AND equally as annoying.

Agreed, I don't think i should be charged $125 either, i'm sure i could fight it all the way, but i don't have time so i called Honda Canada instead.

I re-read the TSB 16-095 "High Pitched Buzzing/Alternator Feedback from the Speakers" today and I have to hope the Dashboard Wiring Harness specified in the parts list is a new part number from the originally installed one....BUT YOU NEVER KNOW!

I'm actually going to redo the diagnosis myself as I'm not sure if they did it on their end. It will tell me clearly whether or not this TSB relates to the noise we're hearing. I have a doubt that its not related due to the fact that the TSB specifies the noise being caused by alternator feedback and the noise I hear comes through even without the engine starting meaning the alternator should not even be running.

The noise still happens without the engine running.

Yep, the noise kicks in right when the HU turns on and displays HondaLink, with or without the engine running.

One thing that I want to mention that I noticed in my vehicle (that may have been brought up before)... When I'm using Android Auto or even just Bluetooth and press the Talk button to use the assistant, it sounds to me like the pitch decreases and the volume increases. After the command is finished and it goes back to music or whatever it changes back to the high pitched sound we are experiencing. Total shot in the dark but could be the microphone or it's connections built-in the vehicle that's causing the noise? Seems unlikely but if someone had their dash and HU torn apart maybe it can checked out.

I'm still seriously considering going aftermarket...

You mean like feedback from the mic being to close to the amp?

I can hear it on my RTL-E. As indicated above, it's present in accessory mode without the engine running and is pretty easy to hear in this scenario assuming your ears can still hear in that range. It's definitely an interference type buzzing that doesn't change with the volume level. It's akin to a CRT TV wine if you've ever heard that.

Ah, the ol' 15,625 Hz whine. People were always amazed I could tell when someone turned on a TV in another room. I guess most people either can't hear those frequencies or they're masked by tinnitus.

I can no longer hear those frequencies in my right ear, but my left ear is still annoyed by CRTs and cheap or poorly-designed power supplies that make a variety of beeping or screeching sounds. I chunked a Sony Blu-Ray player in the garbage not too long ago because the power supply started making a very faint, high-pitched tone only after it had been off for a while. One night, I could hear the beeping from across the room and I had enough.

Hey zroger73. I have the 2nd high pitch sound that you can hear when you take your foot off the gas at around 55 down to about 30. My truck is going in on tuesday and they are switching out the driveshaft. Will let you if it fixes the problem. At least the mechanic at the dealer heard the whine when I took it in this week.

Also here is a YouTube video of the sound. My phone barely picks it up but it's there (to me anyways). Definitely louder in person (also could be just me). Starts at around 8 seconds after a pop (sorry!).

I don't know how to embed a video...:|
Long time lurker on ROC. I have the exact same issue as heard in your video on my 2017 BE! I looked in the Ridgeline Manual and pulled Fuse 2 (Audio Amp) from the Engine Compartment Fuse Box. The ringing completely stopped however the speaker does still pop which is strange. These issues occur regardless of if I have my phone with me and connected to bluetooth. Going to schedule a service appointment in January. I've taken videos to show the service department, who have been good about fixing a few prior issues I've had that were not related.

Sorry to hear another person has this issue.

Interesting to know you got the ringing to stop by pulling the fuse, and for the speaker pop there is this thread: http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/...nersclub.com/forums/185-2g-problems-fixes-tsb-s/164969-random-pop-speakers.html saying it usually happens when the A/C is on (as it does for me).

Hopefully the service department will be able to tell you/do something worthwhile. I've been bothering my dealer about it for months now and they are still waiting for Honda Tech to come up with something. They say the issue is not reported enough so get on 'em!
