Gotcha. Reading your trailer specs, my advice would be: If you haven’t purchased the WD hitch yet, consider holding off. The Ridgeline should handle all those loads comfortably without the extra complexity and weight of the WD hitch.
This is my experience with a similarly-spec’s load, under some very demanding winds and traffic.

Finally done: I attached the controller to the brake support with an L-bracket

I hope that bracket is stiff enough to keep the red Tow-Pro Liberty box from vibrating. Like most brake controllers today, Tow-Pro has a 3-axis accelerometer built inside to determine when you are braking. If the box is vibrating, who knows how that will be perceived by the processor. If you get unexpected or erratic operation, I'd try stuffing a rag tightly under the box to see if things smooth out. If so, then you may need a stronger mount.

thank you for the heads-up. This is actually a way overpriced original bracket from Tow-Pro. I will see how it will work out.

Now I'm curious about the toggle switch and what appears to be a push-button switch right next to the U-joint.
a good question. I don't know but I have some ideas. When I bought the truck in 2018, I received what looks like a remote controller. Dealer didn't know anything about it and it didn't do anything. I noticed a wire gong into the door panel outside of the factory harness loom. The first time that I looked underneath the dash board was, when I installed the brake controller. The remote says "RPN 7111l" Googling shows " Avital Transmitter control fob RPN 7111L keyless entry remote aftermarket keyfob" and further "
". It appears to be the program device setup for the remote controller. I will investigate more..

Just wanted to add my two cents for where I installed the controller. As everyone states, nowhere to really put this thing. I strapped mine to a bracket above the parking brake. After six zip ties, very secure. Getting the zip ties around there was not easy but I was determined!

The easy part was modifying the blank slate I had in the dash for the knob.

I really wish Honda had made that switch panel wider to accommodate a couple blank spaces just exactly for this purpose. With an RTL-E or Black Edition, that panel is full making it more difficult to add controls for anything extra that folks sometimes like to add to their trucks.
