Making an extensive "how to" thread, for anyone else that may want their low bass notes back in their truck. As the title suggests, I am installing a Kicker Keyloc, JL Audio 500 watt amp and a JL audio dual 8" ported sub that fits like a glove under the back seat. These are all available in many places. Crutchfield is a good one.
First off, is running your power cable. There are so many kits out there - just go with a good quality 4 gauge kit. Got mine off of Amazon. Had to modify the factory positive post cap assembly to accommodate the new cable. Next, I ran it along the same avenue as the hood release cable. I like to keep the fuse as reasonably close to the battery as possible. If a short to chassis happened between the fuse and the battery - the fuse obviously doesn't do any good and bad things ahead for the battery. I used the larger grommet hole to punch the cable through in the driver's side kick panel area. Used a larger and large phillips screw driver to get the grommet hole big enough to get it through using a little carnuba wax soap. Feel like it is sealed very snugly around the cable. Posting sequential pics to show the path used. The inner fender well pic was fun get a shot of. Going to pause here and start the next segment.
