Needs some opinions. Between Gator Trax and Retrax retractable covers.

Have a few questions for those who have purchased or researched these tonneau covers.
Decided to bite the bullet and get a retractable cover. (Don’t think I want a fold up cover).
Is Gator trax or Retrax a better cover?

And is it worth it to upgrade to the aluminum slats over the polycarbonate slats? I know climate could determine your decision, so I live in Northern California.

Is there a better tonneau brand other than these two?

Last question, where can I get the best price once I decided?

I have a RetraxProMX on my G2 with the aluminum slats. I had a RetraxOne with the poly carbonate slats on my Gen 1's. In my opinion, the upgrade to the PROMX is worth every penny. While I had no issues with the cover on my Gen1 I've seen pictures of the poly slats failing over time. My PROMX is about 16 months old and looks like new.

I don't think the Gator Trax was available when I purchased the Gen 1 cover years ago. Based on my experience with my first Retrax I did not shop around for other brands for the 2nd. I just placed an order.

Did you happen to look at the Peragon? Just wondering, I love mine.

All of the retractable that have a rail down the side will limit the trunk about the same. Peragon is just honest enough to tell people up front and also provide a measurement. Trust me the opening limitation has no significant impact on putting even large items in the trunk.

Not fond of the way the Peragon folds up.
I would prefer a adjustable tonneau that I can lock into any position.
After tons of research I learned That the Gator Trax is basically a rebranded Retrax at a slightly lower price. Been reviewing the hard trifold Tonneaus also. It can be tough deciding what I want verses what I really need. And it’s tough deciding what I really need when I can’t physically go to a store and check out demo models.

There's also the Roll n Lock. It doesn't use a roller system to coil up the cover, so it's a smaller package when retracted.
