I installed the OEM cover today. Super simple - just replace cleats on four corners with the brackets for the cover and then sit in on and latch it down. Here are some close up photos of the latches:

From my experience it's worthwhile checking non-dealer sources when you're ready to buy. I found the OEM at BK Honda Parts for seven hundred something (in 2020) and asked my dealer if they wanted to compete, and they matched it, vs. the 1000-1100 list price (don't remember exactly).

1st thing I bought for my truck was this cover.
Picked it up when I picked up truck.
Design is great.

I test drove a different used Ridgeline which had this cover installed.
Knew I had to have this once I settled on truck.

for inside the bed I have the ‘Bedrug’ 2 piece mat and tailgate rug
too cold to install but spring is coming
uses velcro and easily removed

I'm not sure which direction your gap is running. Along the front? Or on the sides? Either way, the cover isn't installed in the right place. There are tabs on the cover that need to sit in front of the brackets. If they are sitting on top of the bracket, that would make it have a gap.

Here are some pics of the gap I am asking about. Again any help/hints are welcome
Your inside picture are too blurry for me to tell what's going on. Here's mine:

From your outside photo, it looks like that tab is probably sitting on top of the bracket instead of in front of it.

BTW, mine originally was behind the bracket, but it leaked terribly. I have to loosen and readjust the bracket so the tab could sit in front, and it's lot less wet now. Note that I didn't say "dry" - but close.
