I'm curious, did your agency do anything to the engine, tires or suspension to modify it for pursuit driving?
No we haven't. This is the 3rd 4x4 we've owned, from a Explorer to Expedition and now the RL. It's main purpose is to get where we need to go during snowstorms, and carry things that come up. It sees some occasional use when other cars are being serviced, etc, or we send it on traffic details. The other day I sent a guy after 16 pieces of 4x8 Blueboard insulation for a garage slab we are working on - I bet people were scrathing their heads at that.

None of the Big 3 make a 4wd pursuit-rated vehicle, but they turn out "special service" models with some options like vinyl floors and vinyl rear seat. They are too worried about liability to call them "pursuit vehicles" so they shift that to the end user. Chevy is marketing the 2wd Tahoe as pursuit-rated, but the 4x4 along with the Explorer and Expedition are available in the "special service" category. I think the Durango is dead, but that wasn't pursuit rated either. But there are a lot of 4x4 SUVs in use as well as traditional trucks. If you're driving a 4x4 in a pursuit, it better be justifiable and reasonable and you better know the limits. And lots of agencies are looking at alternate vehicles. One of the biggest issues is mounting equipment. I could get all kinds of brackets for our Expedition, but nothing for the Ridgeline. So install takes more time and effort.

Ford is saying an AWD sedan will be available as one of two police cars for replacement for the Crown Vic in 2012, so I'd bet on the new Taurus in AWD and the Fusion for admin/detectives.

I wouldn't mind a little more power in the Ridgeline, perhaps something like an air filter kit. Maybe a chip if it doesn't hurt the warranty or sacrifice fuel mileage. I was interested in the deisel before Honda scrapped it.

Very nice rig. Wish I had one to drive at work!:p

That is just the coolest thing, I wonder if anyone has made a RL into a Fire Chiefs vehicle or brush truck for wildland firefighting, that I would love to see being a fireman myself. :)
Although I've never seen a picture of it, a friend of mine who became Fire Chief in Hemet, CA supposedly has (or had) a Ridgeline for his work vehicle. Haven't asked for pics but next time I speak to him I will.

Throw a CAI on it and IF its not legally required in your area, replace the third cat with test pipe, dump the restrictive exhaust and run a magnaflow set up. You will notice a difference. You may not catch any turbocharged road rockets, but you'll make them turn around and look when you bury the pedal. Then while they're distracted, set up the roadblock.

A number of ROCrs have asked for more pics. Sorry for the delay, but here they are (in a bunch of posts, please be patient):

-A pre-install shot of back seat area

-A clean exterior with the exception of vinyl graphics

-Center console area after my Town of Hanover-Fleet fabricator removed the Honda console and got the Havis Shields console and computer screen mounts to this point
