I finally got these installed today. Really pleased with the look and the matte black really matches with the other blacking out I have been slowing getting done. Weather permitting, the front chrome will be eliminated this weekend. I am still trying to decide whether or not to go with black lug nuts too.

I wanted to go with vinyl originally, but since I found out the trim is so easy to remove, and I already have three cans of Plasti-dip, I am thinking 10-15 coats of it should be every bit as durable as vinyl.

Thanks for the compliments. I had priced getting my original wheels powder coated at $90 per wheel. Then I found already powder coated ones on Ebay for $680. Just because of the logistics of getting them off, while leaving the truck on jack stands, removing the tires, etc, it was just easier to buy them. They were available in both matte black and gloss black. I wanted the matte just to match everything else I had done (window trim, logos, eventually front brow and trim on rear bumper).

The logos were plasti-dipped. Pretty easy to do and many videos are available on Youtube to show you how to do it. One good tip, if you end up with any over spray (which I did), a damp micro fiber cloth takes it right off, very easily.

I'm currently trying to remove the H logo on the front to remove my grill. The Honda instructions mention using a screwdriver to unclip from the rear, but I can't see any thing obvious.

Before I resort to brute force, does anyone know how to easily remover the H logo?
I was under the assumption that it was just clipped on and could be removed with trim tools. Perhaps my assumptions were wrong. Please post if you figure out something.

Edit: Near the end of this video, it appears the logo is just pulled off and snapped back on:

I managed to figure it out. The (official) steps are to lever two black tabs at the rear-top of the H trim (from the radiator side) with a flat bade screwdriver to unclip the top edge.

However, the easier way is rather than use a screw-driver, put your hand round the back (radiator side) where you can see/feel the two black tabs. Just push them up down and pull the top part of the H piece out while they're pushed up. You can do one corner at a time. Then when the top part is free, just pull the whole thing out.

Once the H is out, the grill removal was simple.

I'm going to wrap the chrome grill in satin black and the H in a tinted film to darken it. I'll see how that looks!

Edit: corrected "up" to "down"!

Looking forward to seeing your results.

I have been attempting to remove the H logo for about an hour now. I have pushed up on the only black tabs I can find at the rear top of the logo, and although the outer ring seems to be a little bit lose, the H is still not moving. I have the chrome eyebrow loose but cannot remove it because of the H is keeping the last two tabs in place. Ugh!

Sorry - I must has mis-remembered when I posted last night. Took a look just now and it looks like you need to push them down. A couple of photos of the H and the grill should help...

You can see the tabs top left and right...

And these are the slots in the H the tabs engage with...

Yup, Pushing down was the key. I finally figured that out, but not early enough to keep from breaking the outer ring of the logo. Looking for a part number now to replace it.

Bummer. Sorry for the mix up but I was messing around with those darn things so much yesterday trying to get them free, I must have forgotten exactly what it was that freed them.

I managed to snap the two pins holding the silver H in and had to glue them back together. I also had to drill 3 of the screws out that hold the black plastic center piece in-between the horizontal chrome bars. I think I'll have to epoxy it back together. Honda sure didn't make it easy!

No worries. I would have probably broken it anyway. lol. Nope, they sure didn't make it easy. I was just looking at those H pins and trying to figure out the best way to remove the logo from those attachment washers, for lack of a better name.

I am going to try gluing the ring back together, then lightly sand the break area and plasti-dip it to see if it covers without being too noticeable. If so, I will order a new one. I found it on HondaPartsNow.com for $11 and some change, but they also want $11 and more change just to ship it. Doh! I may check with my local dealer on Monday to see if they can get it for me for reasonably.

EDIT: Are the two pins in the back the only thing holding the H in place, or is there something else that is hidden?

Got the emblem sprayed with PlastiDip. 7 coats. Turned out pretty nice, I think. I decided to take my chrome strip to a professional for vinyl coating. Decided it was much too big of a job for me to attempt to PD it. I will be dropping off this afternoon and hopefully picking it back up on Tuesday.
