Previous/Current Fuel Consumption Rate Screen - made me go soft on the pedal trying to beat the previous rate

Found this screen the other day and enjoyed it. After a few drive cycles I began "Hyper-Miling" a bit (very soft on acceleration and ECON Mode engaged) around my local area. It was fun trying to beat the "Previous Drive" figure.

Are you referring to a comparison between the AVG MPG on the center display at time of a gas fill-up vs your 'calculated' MPG (odometer miles / gas-dispenser gallons) at gas fill-up?

If yes, I see from another post that you've had your RL for only 12 days as of today, how many gas fill-ups have you done this comparison, and what was the total number of gallons added at each fill-up?

If not, please explain exactly the basis of your comparison and conclusion?

Yes. 400 mile trip with 16gal fill gave me 25mpg vs 28.7 on AVG.MPG.
OK, that's cool (and thanks for mentioning you have OE size tires (y) ).

Suggest you don't take that as indicative / representative yet, there's lots of variables in a single fill-up, a big one being the pump shutoff / fill-level. Those sorts of variables will 'average out' over more fill-ups.

FWIW I've recorded and reset the display AVG MPG on my 2019 RTL-E at every fill-up since new, and now at 15235 miles and 44 data points (fill-ups) long-term average disparity between Display and Calculated MPG per fill-up is 1.94 MPG (display averaging optimistic / higher MPG).

A few data points have been wildly high and a few wildly low in terms of absolute value, the standard deviation in my sample set is 0.95. There's likely to be greater variation if you commonly 'short-fill' (you didn't in the mentioned case), my average fill-up is 16.75 gallons.

In my case my lifetime calculated average is 20.3 MPG (It's the way I drive my 2019 RTL-E AWD, no worries) and my display is pretty darned consistently ~11% / ~1.9 MPG optimistic.

YMMV, but suggest you hang-on and look at things over a bit longer period.

And no, there's no capability to 'fine-tune' the RL MPG measurement / display algorithm accuracy, even with Honda's super-sophisticated dealer diagnostic tools, that's already been exhausted here, it is what it is. :)

Yes please don't make the mistake of following me when I'm trying to squeeze a few more MPG form my RL...I generated the posted Data on lightly traveled Rural Roads. For sure don't recommend this driving style in heavy traffic. Elevation here is between 300-800 Feet...you Folks driving in higher elevations will likely do better than me. I always run Premium Fuel too.
