My '06 RTL runs beautiful when cold. Starts up and idles smooth on cold starts (starts up without touching gas pedal). If I drive it for about an hour and make several stops, it will sputter on a re-start. If I give it gas it will smooth out instantly but the engine light may or may not pop up.

When I check the codes, it will be 301,302,303, 304,305,306, catalyst OT sensor heater circuit, EGR. It just miss-fires for a second but enough for the light to pop on.

I kind of doubt if its the catalytic itself as I could accelerate to 80 mph without a problem (not easy to do on Los Angeles freeways).

I've changed the coils, the plugs (although I used Bosch plugs) and the EGR valve but it will still do it.

Any thoughts ?

Thank you.

Thank You Ian,

I will be changing the Plugs to the NGK's today. My Coils are OEM. Not sure if the O2 sensors are original. I bought vehicle with 140k miles on it and the truck had been sitting for the better part of 5 years (from a friends mother).

One thing I noticed yesterday....Drove it quite a bit yesterday afternoon with several stops and the "sputtering" did not occur but it was cooler outside yesterday (high of 70). Started up four times and always had a smooth idle. Last week it was in the mid 80's when the issue arose.

I normally fill it up at Chevron with regular.

Thanks to all. This is my first Honda (drove F250's for 30+ years).

Out of curiosity, what issues have people had using Bosch spark plugs vs. NGK's. I've read it referenced without any specifics.

Thank You.

Well I changed the plugs to NGK's (1ZRFR5K11) and drove it around today with several stops and so far so good. It is cooler today (about 65) so I'm not going to excited yet. The only time this occurred was when it was above 80 outside. Need to drive it for an hour straight with several stops and then I'll be more confident.
