What is the brand and part number? If they are aftermarket and end in 7317, you can.

 

According to HandA the filters have different part numbers.

S2000 - 15400-PCX-004
Ridgeline - 15400-PLM-A02

I know most Hondas use the same filter that the Ridgeline does.

Haha, wait 'till you find out you can also use that same oil filter on your honda lawnmower, and your honda generator, and your motorcycle.... I only say this because yes, that is the case in my garage. I think I remember the motorcycle filter being a little smaller, but I believe I actually checked and the ridgeline oil filter fits them all. I know I checked for the lawn mower and the generator with my dad's accord v6 filter, that will work on the ridge.

 

The S2000 uses the Hamp filter. It's an excellent filter.

The Hamp filter will normally slightly increase oil pressure due to the additional valving inside the filter.

By the book it's not the right filter, but many people use them in place of the 15400-PLM-A0x filters.

The physical mounting is the same. Some swear by these filters.

Yes, you can use them on a Ridgeline.

 

I believe the ones I have are the HAMP filters - they are aftermarket for the S2000 and I believe are green. I bought them as a case of 10 but have 3 left and didn't want to have to sell them - hell I got them cheaper than factory filters!

 

I ordered a case of HAMP oil filters when I first purchased the Ridgeline. I'm on my fourth or fifth one with no problems to report whatsoever.

They're supposed to be one of the better oil filters.

 

I know that the RL's factory Honda oil filter is the same part used for the new civics. I asked the service advisor because I have one of each.

I'm pretty sure that all 06'+ Honda vehicles use the same exact oil filter. The only difference is like others have mentioned, the S2000 filter has a different part number but is essentially the same as the others but will fit all of the rest of them.

 

I called my dealership service department and scheduled my Pizza Wagon in for a oil change.

I requested they use the S2000 filter as discussed on this thread. The service advisor paused for a bit, then said, "Are you sure". Yup, I hear the AO2 filters you guys use are crap and that the S2000 will fit and do a better job. "OK", he says, "Are you really sure about this"? "Definitely", I said. He comes back with, "Well OK, if that's what you really want".

He paused again, laughed and said, "that's what I do with my Honda".

 

My YAMAHA RHINO takes the same oil filter as my Ridgeline. Nice, I buy a case of Super Tech ST7317.

 

So here I am, at the dealership, cooling off from a heated discussion with the Service Manager. He refuses to install the S2000 filter. I even showed him the post from H&A with the Honda document stating it was acceptable.

The only option I have at this point is to proceed with the oil change letting him install the AO2 filter. I'll be swapping that out this weekend with either the Mobil1 or Supertech filter.

I'm thinking this is the last time this dealership sees my RL!

That would totally torque me off! Especially when you call ahead and check.

I have a really good dealer I deal with - at least so far. I've used them in the past on other Hondas. But, I really want to start doing a lot more to my RL myself. With my wife's cars, I couldn't get my vertically challenged body anywhere near under it comfortably - I can with the RL.

So, We'll see how that plays out as I have more options on my truck each time I go there for something. LOL!

 

PM, why didn't you go over to the parts counter, purchase an S2000 filter, hand it to the SM, and tell him to install the "customer supplied filter" with your oil change? They can write that down on the invoice if they need to.

 

He refused to do that, SH.

Last time I was here he even gave me a hard time installing my "Customer Supplied" AO1 filter, go figure. He installed it after a loud discussion. I'm outta here, it was a great dealership to buy from, but I have no confidence in the service dept.

I'll be doing this myself from here on out.

 

A wise choice. Best of luck. BTW I have used the ST7317 SuperTech filters from the first oil change. They have done well so far. 55K and counting. I use them on my wife's Pilot as well. 115K and counting.

 

I've also switched along with my wife’s honda powered VUE... No issues here...

I do plan on using a new one with ever oil change and not let it slip by like honda says is okay with the OEM filter....
