Hi there- 2023 RTL owner. I've done multiple Google/Apple searches to get this to stop. Meaning.. whenever is cued up o Apple music start playing as soon as a bluetooth connection is established in the Ridgeline. I thought it was " handoff" in Settings... that didn't work. And I think I turned off Autoplay somewhere else

Anyone else with this problem ?

Try this: How to stop Apple Music from automatically playing

I don’t have that issue, even though I use CarPlay daily, but it sounds like a common problem according to the linked article. It sounds like you need to click the little infinity symbol in Apple Music while a song is playing to turn auto play off.

Wired (OEM) CarPlay has nothing to do with Bluetooth.
If you have a wireless adapter, the Ridgeline sees it as a wired connection also. There is a Bluetooth handshake between the phone and the adapter, but then it switches to wifi for data (music) transfer.
The setting will be in the wireless adapter settings, and/or as @Wohlgie stated.

Interesting. As per usual, when I tried to do those things in the link, mine did not show what they instructional showed to be there. The closet I got was the one to disable CarPlay. My question is; if I disable CarPlay as per the link, does that mean I can't use the maps anymore?

How bizarre! I tried it out in my iPhone 15 this morning with iOS 17 before posting the link and it all worked on my iPhone.
My link has nothing to do with the pictures and info you posted which is all on the Honda side of things. My info was only about Apple and iOS.

Are you certain you followed everything it said to do on you iPhone? Open AppleMusic? Start playing a song? And then within that song/playlist click on the infinity symbol? I don’t understand how they aren’t there. I double-checked before posting. What iOS are you running?

17.4.1 and the infinity symbol is not there, just the shuffle and reverse? symbol

17.4.1 here.

You MUST have a song playing for it to show up.

Here is a screenshot that I just took. I don’t know why it would show on my iPhone, my husband’s iPhone, and my iPad and not on someone else’s?

It shows up consistently on my end no matter the device, and it is exactly how the linked article stated, so I’m thinking it isn’t something unique to me or the article’s author. I don’t know what else to add. 🤷‍♀️ Maybe look into why it isn’t showing up on yours?

I’ll do some searching. I appreciate the help. I’m not very tech savvy. I just want to be able to start navigating via google maps without my Apple playlists starting.

While I don't have an iPhone I did have this issue with my Android. If my play queue in the music app on my phone has a song in it the RL plays it as soon as the phone establishes a connection.
I have the same exact problem with android on my wife's 21 CRV MY 23 RL and OUR 24 PP as you are describing. As soon as I go to Android auto at startup the radio starts playing whatever is playing on Pandora on my phone. I have looked at every screen on Pandora on my phone and the Hondas screens an am unable to find an auto play option to turn it off. What am I missing.

Create an Automation that will pause your music when the iPhone connects to CarPlay.
Shortcuts App > Automation > + > CarPlay > Connects - Run Immediately > Next > New Blank Automation > Add Action > Search for "Pause" > Play/Pause > Tap on Play/Pause > Choose Pause > Done

Thanks. I am realizing that I am fairly tech illeterate. Again, my phone did not match the tutorial and when he glossed over using CarPlay because he is using Bluetooth, I got lost. I hard wire to my car and use CarPlay.

I did find a place to set up a new automation in CarPlay and I basically set it up to do nothing as far a messages, open app or music. Hopefully it will still let me use google maps.

There are a lot of steps, this may be easier to follow:

Launch the Shortcuts App
Tap:
Automation
+
CarPlay
Connects - Run Immediately
Next
New Blank Automation
Add Action
Search for "Pause"
Play/Pause
Tap on Play/Pause
Choose Pause
Done

Thanks. That was doable. I went out and checked and it came up "nothing playing". Thanks again.
