Towing in the mountains with four adults on board

Went on a recent camping trip up to Rocky Mountain National Park (west side, Grand Lake). Towing a teardrop with dry weight of 1100#, probably 1500# with on-board water, gear, and crap. Four adults in the cabin, bed full of their gear and a full-sized spare. Measured tongue weight on the trailer around 250#, due to loaded toolbox on trailer tongue.

Route went from Denver up I-70 and over Berthoud Pass at 11,000 feet elevation. Stayed in Sequential Mode much of the way to manage RPM and keep off the brakes on downhill runs. Never felt like I was pushing the vehicle's limits at all (was a bit worried, never having carried so much over a notorious pass).

Very, very pleased with EaRL Gray's handling and performance, and got a reported average 19.3 mpg. Have about 8,000 miles on the odometer total.

The more I drive this RL, the happier I am that Ford had such a cluster event going for the Maverick I ordered and never could get.

@EaRL Gray, did you purchase the parks pass with your license plate renewal or just pay by the day?
The pass with license plates is for Colorado state parks, national parks are their own thing.

I did just recently do the Colorado pass though.

Great write up! Maybe you can help me with your impressions of the cabin comfort with 4 adults? Is there enough room in back to lean back and relax for hundreds of miles? The overall cabin room with adults in the rear is my only reservation with a RL.
I don't think I'd call the back seat luxurious, but it is quite adequate. One detail that's nice is the back seats are just a bit higher than the front, so passengers can see out nicely. One of our passengers is 6'3", and he did fine back there, although he sat behind my wife, who doesn't need her seat as far back as I do.
