TPMS Question

My '11 has the TPMS sensors, but it only tells you when a tire is low and which one.
Is there a way to get an actual air pressure reading from the tires?

If not, I'm thinking about getting one of those kits on Amazon that replaces all the valve stem caps with sensors and the display plugs into your aux power port......they are like $65 and get good reviews.

Thanks

My 2014 SE shows the psi of each tire. I notice the numbers move up and down as the oat changes. Not sure if there is something on the '14 that could be put on your '11. I was surprised recently when I drove our 2015 Volvo XC60 and it didn't show individual tire psi's.

PS I just added 265/60/R18 tires so i'm trying different tire pressures.

Only the 2009-2014 Ridgelines with navigation have the multi-data information display (below the speedometer) that gives you specific tire pressure information. So if your 2011 RTL does not have navigation, you will not get pressure numbers displayed. However, the TPMS sensors are the same, regards, so you just need a means of receiving the current TPMS signals and displaying the information properly. Some of the signals can get pretty cryptic from vehicle-to-vehicle, so I don't know if one of those OBD2 guage displays can show it or not.

for that much money, it does not indicate the actual (or relative) tire pressure, but rather does what the lower trim ridgelines do; indicate the tire with low pressure.

Except for the nail in my tire twice in the last 8 years, and a shrapnel that ate my stock LTX sidewall, I have not had the TPMS light come on. For whatever reason, the Grabber AT2s seem to be solid with tire pressure. I only fill up my tires once a year. :nerd:

Do you have the stock steel wheels that the RT comes with?

Perhaps the steel wheels and their specific valve stems do a better job of sealing than the alloys?

My 14 Sport needs the air topped off every couple of months. One tire had a definite issue with its valve core. In my line of work I also get nails / screws in the treads fairly often. Still, the stock wheel tire combo (original Michelins with 30k on them) seems to loose air more quickly than they should.

There is another option that offers tire psi among other gauges. Maestro I-dataLink. You would have to upgrade your stereo...
