I’m looking to hook up a boat trailer to my truck. When wiring for lights I found this lone plug underneath. (See picture) It’s live and I get voltage to it when I hit my brakes, turn signal, lights etc… my truck has the towing package and I believe it was all there at one point.

My question is what would plug into this that would have a 4-plug on the other end for the trailer lights?? Or a 7-plug is ok because I can use an adapter. I’ve done a google search but can’t find anything to match.

My guess is that you are missing a segment of the harness.

What year is your truck and has the rear bumper area been modified?

You need to consult the parts manual and/or visit a dealer's parts dept to get the info you need and order the correct parts. It should be a pretty straightforward thing to do.

Unless someone else speaks up.....I am 95 percent sure that what you need is the Honda harness.

You could try a junkyard and/or buy it from a dealer.

Once you have the part number you can use the Web to get the best price.

It should not really be a big deal, but I know finding pieces missing is disappointing.

Don't need a genuine Honda plug there for that connector which is the pre wire for a 7 pin brake controller. I bought both the Tekonsha brake controller and the wiring adapter from etrailer, neither were 'Honda parts'. At the rear, your 7 pin connector, there are numerous (Also generic) 7 pin to 4 pin plug adapters for towing trailers w/o trailer brakes. I keep a couple of them in the truck trunk -just in case ! Also a 1 7/8", 2" and 2 5/16" trailer ball(s). My '20 RTL-E came pre-wired with the connector you show, tucked waaay up there under the dash..... :)
