Turn signals are dead!

I have an rtl w/navi 1000 miles on it. On my way down to Key West this weekend I discovered that my turn signals were no longer working. Then it started to rain and I discovered my intermiitent wipers were not working either. First thing I did was check the owners manual for a fuse location but one does not exist for these items?

Anyone else had this problem and what was the remedy? I am thinking I have a bad stalk.

Hey mrtgman, welcome to the ROC! Sorry to hear about your troubles... I think I recall one other person having a problem with their wipers recently... If I can find the link I'll add it to this thread for you. It does sound like an electrical problem, though, since the turn signals are also shot. Maybe by bumping your post someone will come along who can help... in the meantime, good luck! :D

Edit: OK, I found the thing about the wipers, but it was about the washer fluid dispenser not working, not the wipers themselves... I found one guy with electrical problems that got resolved by replacing the plug on the wiring harness:

Check fuses 15 & 16 under the hood and fuses 7 & 21 under the dash. The former protect the turn signal / hazard relay and the MICU, and the latter protect the Combination Switch Control Unit (the stalk).

I had a similar electrical problem where many of my accessories stopped working.
EX: directionals, power windows, one at a time, etc.
Strange that functions would drop off one at a time. Lack of power I thought it.
Could be that the computer was shutting down systems 1 at a time. HELLO HAL.
Turned out it was the molex plug to the back of the fuse block and the voltage was dropping off.
Apparently, the locking tab was broken and the plug would not stay seated. Honda wanted to replace the entire harness. NO WAY was I going to let them replace it. Take the entire interior apart to put a new harnes in, NO WAY.
I suggested they simply replaced the Molex plug instead. They needed the Regional to OK the fix. It ws approved and all is OK.:)

Turns out the stalk (turn signal arm) was no good. They replaced it with another one that only half the functions worked. 2 days later they got a new one in and replaced the one they had replaced in the first place. All is fine. They tried to blame it on the aftermarket fog lights I had installed and threatned to void my warranty. A**HOLES! Turns out it was thier crappy part!

It's called "passing the buck".........if they can tell you that within minutes of diagnosis, then they can tell you what went wrong in the same amout of time. My guess is they can't answer the second part....which means they don't know either. Just ask them how aftermarket fogs could create this problem? I bet they have no answer.

I took my Element in to get a wiring harness installed at my dealer....they got it all together and didn't know why it wasn't working? I told them to take it out and let me install it. OK.....you think you are "smarter" than OUR mechanics? I told them.....well, i guess we will see. 1.5 hours later i took it in smilin' all the way. I then told them their harness was miswired after the last pigtail and the pins had to be removed and put in the proper order. It's fairly simple.....want me to show you? (they turned around and walked away saying absolutely nothing)

You could always just move to Arizona, since no one here ever uses their turn signals anyway and you rarely need the wipers. :D
LOL, Mike. Same thing here in WI. I think BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, and any company that makes large SUV's (Like the Surburban) have had the turn signal stalks completely removed from their vehicles. Must be to save on weight, or something, I dunno..... :D

I had a simular problem but, fixed itself. Sacry thou. On my way back from OK to KY dusk was creaping upon us. I stopped to fill-up and one noticed that my left interior turn indicator was stuck on (the one in your dash) and I lost use of both siginals left and right. This was only affected when I had the running lights on. Wierd. So we stopped, spent the night and in the morning all was well???? I reported it to the dealer and he said he would look it up and get back with me. (Yea right).
