I have a 2010 Honda Ridgeline with 420,000 km on it. I was looking to change the rear diff but was seeing if there is an alternative to the Honda fluid. When I contacted my local Honda dealer, the price was outrageous for 2 L of it. Wondering if this stuff will work or it’ll cause issues.

Rear diff fluid is one of those “parts” where it’s best to stick with the Honda oem. The VTM4 clutches are sensitive to proper fluid.

Honda's VTM-4 unit is closer in design to an automatic transmission than a traditional rear differential. You should use ONLY Honda VTM-4 Fluid.
Is this outrageous? Kinda like an expensive synthetic oil change. Go with Honda fluid like everyone else said! And shop online 
It would be interesting to see how long the differential would last with good ol' gear oil... 🤔
My dealers price was less expensive than Amazon. No shipping mishap risks involved.
