where are yall getting your amp remote lines from?

As stated in my 'fishing for direction' thread, I'm planning the instalation of an aftermarket stereo. Since this seems like such a common question that didnt have its own thread, i thought i'd start one. this is a very important subject because if you just install the amps without it, your amps wont turn on. If you just hot wire it, youll kill the battery quick because the amps will keep sucking juice even after the car is off.

For those of you who kept the stock HU, how are you derriving an accessory power-on signal line? (AKA amp remote lead)

thanks! :act030:

Keeping the stock HU.....I found the correct wire on the stock radio harness and tapped into it, then ran the wire down the passenger side to the amp under the front seat.

It's been a while since my install so I'm unsure of which color wire it was but you can find out the info on this site.

Good luck!

wait what? im not talking about HU power but the signal that comes from the HU to turn on n off amps. are yall sure? why would a stock system come w that if theres no stock amp? now im confused again. what does it go to, and should one splice or tap?

thats pretty awesome that its on there already. i had to do some crazy relay action stuff on my last one. guess that really simplifies things! thanks :)

Search is your best friend:

Honestly, you probably will need an SPST switch or go into the fuse box to find a good source. I thought some of the sound processors have ability to turn on amplifiers. I do not want to give bad advice. I believe it is brown and not blue. as listed on one this thread.
