Will Stellantis really lower the prices of their vehicles by 30-35% in 2025?

Stellantis is getting desperate and rumors have it that they will be dropping the MSRP on many of their vehicles by 30-35% in 2025. Will it be enough? That would certainly irritate recent buyers of the RAM truck who paid $70K+.

Had similar happen to use when Chevrolet first introduced their "employee pricing" and effectively reduced prices overnight. We had just bought a Trailblazer a couple of weeks before. In addition to normal depreciation, the value dropped almost 5K overnight. We were not happy campers to say the least. Even though we had put a decent amount down, were were suddenly upside down for over a year.

We were driving behind a brand new Ram with a temp tag and commented to my son, "that new Ram owner is going to be pretty upset in January."

Junk at 35% off the prices...is still junk. I was a Ram driver for over 39 years and not once did any of them perform as our Passport and Ridgeline - zero time in the shop from day one other than routine oil/filter changes. I have never been able to say that about my Dodge 150s, 1500, 2500, 3500 as they each had to make a run to the shop after the initial purchase. Honda never seen either the Passport nor our Ridgeline in the shop for repairs...simply maintenance.

If they paid me to take one, I'd refuse. I done the Ram thing before, when they were better, LOL. Great truck until 40,000, then the oil leaks started. That required a new intake and gasket. Then the dealer repainting job (I didn't know about) started losing the clear coat. This wasn't a Ram problem though. I also had headlight problems with the projector bulbs and was starting to have tranny problems. My truck had a coolant diverter problem which relates to the heater core, it went bad and also leaked. This was a 2017 Ram, when they were even better.

It was not my intention to bash Stellantis for their products, but merely make people aware that their prices may be coming down. I looked at a few Toyota products and their prices have risen quite a bit also on their upper trims, but not nearly as much as Stellantis.

Now this isn't just price creep, it is price leaping! The new 4Runner pricing.

Let's see if Toyota gets away with it after all the buzz wears off. I think it's going to be like the new Taco and the lots will fill up. It's at the point where the price of admission to Toyota is not worth it anymore because a long lasting reliable vehicle is no longer a layup. Some of the new models have proved to be disappointing. The Grand Highlander is horrible in the offset test, the Taco is too small in the back, that new 2.4t hybid powertrain is a disappointment in the Land Cruiser. A V6 was always an optional upgrade but Toyota now thinks a turbo hybrid admission price is 60k for something that gets similar MPG's.

I think that during Covid, the price levels of new cars increased just not as much as new cars. All of a sudden a new gas car was similar in price to an EV with the 7k discount. Yes, you can use the inflation calculator to refute this but it all seems to engineered to me with offering a base mode that shows little price increase but they'll be unobtanium while the volume trims have some hefty increases for a more expensive product offering.
