Just installed a set of 4 Yoko 255/60R-18 GEOLANDAR H/T G056 XLs on the '20 RTLE (46k miles) yesterday and some initial impressions. One, our local Discount Tire did a great, quick job installing my Tire Rack acquisitions for $100 plus tax. As you see I did go up to a 255mm , and an XL rated tire as I haul and tow a lot. I expected the truck to feel 'heavier' as a result of the wider, heavier tires versus the stockers. It did not, at all.... Which surprised me- every other vehicle I've owned, when I upped the tire size/width- it felt noticeably different. Not a complaint, an observation. They feel great at low speeds and I didn't notice them riding any 'harsher' through bumps than the stockers, although this is also something I expected- a stiffer ride. On highway, super smooth right up to 90 mph, no issues whatsoever. Steering response- surprised me- at speed- it was very very 'light' and responsive- I kinda expected the opposite with these wider tires- a 'heavier' feel to the wheel. Maybe its that my frame of reference is the old fluid/pump PS systems- or no PS at all !
Speedometer ; OMW to the dealer on worn stock rubber, cruise set at 78, GPS indicated also exactly 78. This with worn (probably minus .25" tread depth) tires. OMW home, again w/cruise set at 78, Actual speed was 79.5 (The GPS bouncing between 79 and 80). At lower speeds it'll be around 1 mph off I figure.
