Has anyone found a way to bypass the Navigation Driver distraction mode? While on a 2000-mile trip my passenger was unable to program a new address. This is a real pain when your on an interstate and no good place to pull off without exiting. I called Garmin and they were no help.

Thanks Frank

There is a thread on here documenting how to do this. You enter developer's mode and can disable the driver distraction feature, but you must do so every time the vehicle is powered on. It does not "stick" once the vehicle is powered off.

Can you do it with voice?
Yes. Voice input works even while driving. I prefer that method since the complete address is spoken instead of having to go through several screens (and it keeps fingerprints off my screen). :)

I was hoping that the touch screen would prevent me from being distracted by needing to look up information in a book, but now I guess I had better start carrying the computer language book, to look up how to talk to the computer while driving; and then keep looking at the screen each time I speak, to see if the computer got it right.

I wish I could use voice for anything in the truck...but can't because when my android Motorola phone is paired to the RL, I lose the ability for voice recognition. I hit the button and before I can say anything she tells 'pardon...I didn't hear a command' or some such thing. The phone itself works OK on Bluetooth so I choose to leave it hooked up. Honda tech was zero help.

This is a common issue. Try un-pairing, and re-pairing the phone.

I just recently tried entering an address or looking places up by voice and I'm surprised how well it works. It was always annoying us that on trips my GF couldn't use the touch screen while we were driving and I'd literally have to pull over on the side of the highway to change destinations but now we'll just use voice.

I've done that many times...no luck at all. It took me a long time to even figure out the paired phone was the cause of the VR failure because it was the 1st time ever on any car we've owned with Bluetooth and VR capability
:( Did you try deleting the phone from the vehicle and deleting the vehicle from the phone before re-pairing?

No.. I'll try that tomorrow.
Thanks!

Nav programming while moving work-around?

This may have been answered already, so I apologize if this is a repeat question.

With my 2019 RTL-E, the navigation system locks out the ability to input changes while the vehicle is in motion. Changes can only be made while stopped. This is pretty annoying. Does anyone know of a hack that would disable this "safety" feature?

I believe it can be defeated in the hidden settings of the HU. My workaround was to use voice prompts to change navigation while in motion.

The "driver distraction" setting change only persists through the current ignition cycle.

I find the HondaLink App easier to search and enter locations to the HU. I did it several times on a recent 2k trip from TX to CO and back. Only limiter is you need a cell signal or the phone wont send. You get a little icon that pops up on the top of the screen just like the location indicator on google maps. Then you just drag it down and hit enter. Easy peasy.

For this trip I saved all the places as favorites in the hondalink app and just sent each pre-saved location as I needed.
