Is your phone in a case? That can affect the system.

At home what sort of wireless charger do you use? They do seem somewhat generic. I can charge my pixel phone on an Apple one or a Samsung one. I have a slim case on the Pixel.

I can’t get my iPhone, which is in a case, to charge either In a 2021 RTL-E. Same deal as you. Green light comes on for a while then starts flashing. Outlets for the power port and USB plug seem to block the area to a degree. Would be handy but I’d rather have my case than wireless charging. I’m not going to be taking the phone in and out of the case.

I do not have a case on my phone. At home I use an AT&T wireless charger which works all of the time.

The wireless charger in my 2020 Cadillac XT5 works all of the time as well. Previously I had a 2017 Cadillac XT5 which had the GM Gen 1 charger did not work on several phones including my Galaxy S9 which I had at the time. The 2020 came with the Gen 2 charger which worked very well for my S9 and then my S21.

Did Honda have wireless chargers in vehicles before the Ridgeline?

Yes, wireless charging has been in other Honda vehicles. The Ridgeline was the last to receive it.

I believe Honda first offered wireless chargers as an accessory for the 2016 Accord. I also believe that the HR-V is the only remaining model without a factory or accessory wireless charging option.

At least there are no disappointed HR-V owners, at least with respect to the wireless charging system.

Just a thought but when I look closely at my wireless charger in my 2021 RL, I see what looks like a window about the size of a pencil lead built into the charging table. Not sure if this has to be covered to activate the charger or not. Will try out on the next ride and repost.

I see now it is an indicator light.

  • Turn the wireless phone charging system on by pressing and holding the power button in the upper right corner of the charging tray. The green indicator light will activate when the system is ready to use.
  • Place the compatible device in the center of the tray with the screen facing up. The amber indicator light will activate when the device is charging.
  • When the charging process is complete, the green light will come back on. However, some devices will show the amber light when the device is charged.
That may help.

I’d add that on my 2021 it seems to charge my iPhone more reliably if I position the phone face up with the “notch” pointed toward the driver rather than away from the driver.

After reading experiences in the Pilot Forum in addition to the comments posted here, I found my phone will charge if I center my phone over the designated charging area. The green light will not be visible because it is covered by the phone. An indicator of charging must be enabled on the phone if it is desirable to monitor whether the phone is charging or when it reaches full charge.

As I stated earlier, the placement of the indicator light is not well thought out. It is rather useless if it cannot be seen when the charger is synchronizing with the phone or while charging.

Just a heads up on the airless charger. I purchased a 2021 RTL-E, with the witless charger. It doesn’t work very well if you have any type of case on your phone. It seems to work without the case. Not many people have phones without the case, so just an FYI.
I am having the same issue with my wireless charging pad, too. I removed the cover and it seems there is still a connectivity problem, though. It connects, then pauses charging, then reconnects.

How can you tell that it is pausing the charging? Does the green light go off on the pad or does the charging bar on the phone go off?

The green light is solid/non-blinking when it’s charging.

Unfortunately, it seems as though the light is in a poor location as it’s covered up by my phone when it is in the location where it just happens to connect to charge.

I originally tried charging it with an otter box and then with no case for my iPhone X. Miserable! The phone slid everywhere. I bought a cheap silicone cover and it pretty much stays in place.

If I’m careful, I can place the phone at a slight angle so that it charges and I can see the solid green light at the same time.

Overall, it seems more frustrating than it should be for such a relative simple process.

I have a relatively thin clear plastic case on my iPhone 11 and the charging pad stays connected unless I drive over a bump.

The phone itself shows a message "charging paused" and makes the corresponding sound both when it connects and disconnects. The green light on the charging pad itself is covered so I can't see it.

I have the same issue wireless charging issue with the iPhone 12 Pro Max. It charges for 15 seconds or so then the green light starts flashing. Then at some point that starts again later. This is without a case on the phone.
