My 2006 Ridgeline was locked. I unlocked using the button on the key, opened the trunk to get my dog some food. I set the keys on a blanket in the trunk while I got the dog food, then shut the trunk. It automatically locked as it should. I called a locksmith since I was out on a road trip and my spare key was in my purse in the front seat. :( When the locksmith opened my door the alarm went off and I gave him the valet key which he inserted in the ignition then in the trunk to stop the honking. Now my alarm will not set and when I hit the lock button twice I do not hear a honk. I have looked everywhere to find "how do I reset the alarm and the honk???? When I press the panic button nothing happens either. Any help would be appreciated.

Might try disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds. It seemed to cure a problem I was having when I think the tailgate switch was not fully engaged, and I was leaving the truck unlocked because the alarm would go off otherwise. It has been fine for over 2 months now.

I'll try to remember and check my FSM when I get home tonight.

Just an update. I will be taking the truck to the repair shop as now my battery is draining. I charged it up took it to Auto Zone and had the battery checked, its a good battery. I put it back in if I don't run it everyday the battery is dead again. Something is drawing on the battery after the lock smith issue.

That could still be a battery and sounds like IanRTL's issue he had about a week ago, however...

Make sure all the lights are turning off when you close the doors. Remember there are lights on all the doors as well as a floor light in the back.

There could be a relay stuck open (or closed) somewhere.

If that doesn't work my suggestion would be to go buy a battery and keep your receipt and make sure they will take the battery back. It could still be a battery.

Check the rubber cover over the trunk switch - sometimes it gets caught and the unlock solenoid is on all the time, draining the battery.

Honestly, mine turned out to simply be the battery. It tested as bad and flooded on the larger, more advanced battery testing machine at the dealership, but tested as "low, recharge" on the handheld machine at Advance Auto. Luckily, they agreed to just swap it out. I paid the dealership $90 for their time in testing the entire electrical system. They hooked it up to their diagnostic machine to test every component and also for any unusual parasitic draw. I ruled out any stuck open relays or anything like that for that cost, which was worth it to me. I got the upgraded Autocraft Platinum AGM battery and I couldn't be happier. The truck has never started faster, the lights are stronger, there's no dimming or flickering of anything anymore and my amp/sub are even stronger. I don't know that I'll ever get anything but an AGM from now on. I would recommend a dealership trip just to have them diagnose and rule out any parasitic draw issues if you aren't able to do it yourself.

The fact that the alarm stopped working makes me think that the vehicle thinks there is something open. On the dash display it should show if any of the doors or trunk is showing as open. If one is, this will drain the battery as others have pointed out.
