I have a Comma AI unit on the way to me for my 2020 BE. I am trying to anticipate installation. I need to remove the cover for the front facing camera behind the rear view mirror. I found the little section behind the mirror mount that I could remove. I now need to get the rest of the cover off. I pushed and pulled and it won't budge. Has anyone taken this off before?

It works very well. I didn't buy the pedal as most of my driving is on the interstates. The pedal works only in stop and go traffic. I drive between New York and Arizona and I find I am much more relax on the drives. I don't have to touch the steering wheel for a hundred miles or more. I only take control getting off or on the ramps for gas, bathroom or eating stops. To me it is worth every penney.

A few more questions.
  • How closely does the comma follow the car in front and is the distance adjustable?
  • Are the braking responses and acceleration to speed after a vehicle in front moves off smooth and natural?
  • Do you leave the system installed all the time, or only use it for long trips?

It is much more capable than the HondaSense system. I purchased a set of trim removal tools and the camera cover comes off with brute force. You think its going to break but eventually it pops off. After doing it once or twice, it gets easier to remove.

Following distance is 3-4 car lengths and is not adjustable. I found the braking aggressive. I typically will take control back approaching an intersection where I have to stop. There has to be a lead car, it does not recognize stop signs or traffic lights but rumor has it will be coming. It will brake right to 0 miles per hour and hold it. To resume speed you have to have the pedal which I don't have. I can't give an answer on acceleration.

I leave it installed all the time except when I am parked in sketchy areas. Leaving a $1000 device on the windshield is an invitation. I did buy a short USB C cable so as not to wear out the jack on the device itself.

Comma 3 arrived today, the basic installation is done and was not too much of a bother. One thing I'm unsure about. The OBDII connector didn't seem to snap into place. It seemed to fit but didn't seem to really go on/in all that securely.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Yes, I noticed the same thing. Mine hasn’t been a problem since it was installed — so it think it’s normal and has worked just fine for several thousand miles now.

Pull — all I can remember is pulling! Wait, there’s two pieces — remove the small piece… Then pull the larger cover off (as far as my Covid riddled brain can remember)…
