Ugraded Exhaust

Here is the before stock exhaust video,

https://youtu.be/BnoLxtL7GpQ

I think the 3.5" intake has a lot to do with how this sounds stock.

and the after modified exhaust video,

https://youtu.be/siCOOAHeiv8

RV6 P Pre-Cat delete
RV6 P J-Pipe
Modified (2.5" inlet and outlet) Magnaflow higflow cat
2.5" Borla Cat back exhaust

Did the idle relearn and took her out for a good 30 min rip on back country roads and a 20 min cruise on the highway. Love the sound and there were noticeable ass dyno gains.

After I get the cams installed at the end of the month. I'll put her on the dyno and see what the actual difference is.

Just out for a Rip!

Out for a back country rip and stopped to take a photo!

Image

Anyone else find ripping through the back country in D3 as relaxing as me?

The back roads around here are amazing. You can go from sea level to 250-300ft 4 or 5 times in the span of 5 miles. The twists and turns demand a lot of attention. Most of the back roads are rural routes, so they are usually not asphalt, they use a chip seal process. Makes for some unexpected, yet exhilarating, whoops. Then, when you need a rest, there is a 5-10minute ferry ride. The route I take has 4 ferry crossings. Makes for a beautiful days drive. I will have to stop and take some pictures next time. I'm usually way too busy loving the drive to stop and look at the scenery.

Just out for a Rip and some Seafood!

Ended up installing the smoke DRL and yellow fog Lamin-X tints. I really like the look.

We decided to go out for a Bay of Fundy cruise. The Caves @ St.Martins NB was a great stop for a photo and a bite to eat. Love their World Famous Clam chowder, it was deadly as always.

I love the look you've added to the Headlights, DRL & especially the Fogs. ;)

Headlight covers!

Thanks, it really gives it that JDM look...lol

For $60 it does change the look of the front end.

Appointment booked for timing belt and camshaft install this Thursday. I am in the midst of doing a bunch of home renos. So doing the install myself is not an option if I want it done any time soon. I'll run it with the cams for a while then work on maybe getting that intake setup installed later this summer.

CRIMONE! That's one bad a$$ hyrdocarbon powered ground pounder!

Thanks for inflicting a serious case of hardware envy and a heightened sense of automotive inadequacy.

Must be nice to live in a state where the nazi tail pipe inspectors haven't infected government yet.

Very nice work!
LoL..... That's a very articulate way to put it!

Thanks!

I don't know what I would do if they were to start sniffing cars here. We only have to pass a visual. Fortunately there are a few licensed garages around that probably wouldn't notice the pre-cats being removed. They don't seem to care, as long as we have at least 1 cat in the exhaust. And there are a lot of them that are punched out...lol

Re: Headlight covers!

Are we brothers??? Lol
Very close!

60$ to do that???
It only took me a search on Amazon and 10 bucks to buy the tint and install.

Either way it looks clean!!!
Thanks

The stuff I bought was pre-cut 12 mil poly-vinyl film. I did the headlights and both bottom lights. I am very satisfied with the quality of this product and the price that I paid. I knew that these would take a beating from all the highway driving that I do so the 12mil was the only way to go. Gotta pay to play!

Well the Ridgeline is down and out with a blown coolant pipe for this May 2-4 long weekend. The local Honda dealer didn't have the part in stock. So I ended up with one of these.....

by Chappy, on Flickr

Impressive for what it is, an ego boosting, cock enlarging waste of money. Glad I'm only paying $25/day for it while the Ridgeline is in the shop.

It's a rental. My dealership does not have 1 Ridgeline left on the lot. I told them I needed a truck for the weekend and this is what I got. A G2 would have been nice but to be honest, I have to pick up a load of manure tomorrow. I would rather fill this thing with shyte than a nice G2.

If someone ever finds a "HONDA DEALER" which rents "HONDA's", Fire Up the Bat Signal to let everyone know it exists...

Well, hard lesson learned. You should always verify the part numbers before committing to buying. The camshafts that I ended up purchasing were the 06-09 14100-RGL-A00 and 14200-RGL-A00. Even though the ones I distinctly remember being in my shopping cart were the 09-14 14100-RJE-A00 and 14200-RJE-A00. I have no idea how I ended up ordering from the 2008 parts page?????

Oh well, the brand new stage 2 Bisi cams that I have obviously don't fit my engine.

New cams on order.

#54 ·
That Sux, they wouldn't offer you a deal (xx% restocking fee)? Been there done that, maybe not to that $ amount, but close.

I've seen them, and would love to do something like that, but I probably have $1k in parts & accessories hidden in the garage now. Hiding the part, NBD, Hiding another $800, would be hard, But it's way beyond my skill set & who to hire?

Ooops! Wrong cams....

Yeah I had them shipped straight from a Honda Dealer in NJ, to Bisimoto in Cali. It wasn't until after they had been sent out for grinding that I realized they were the wrong part number. Unfortunately, they won't take back a modified part! Imagine if they did, the next person who bought them would have a big surprise...lol

Not getting any bites on them yet ether. Not sure why, set of $1200 cams, $400 OEM cams + $800 level 2 grind. Am I asking too much for brand new parts or something? Oh well, they won't wear out sitting on the shelf in my garage. Who knows, I may pick up an old J series engine some day, build it up and drop it in a Civic.

Mailbox put out today..... Real deal RJE J35Z5 camshafts w/stage 2 grind ;)

by Chappy, on Flickr

Take 2 of my stage 2 cam upgrade to follow.

I know this is a bit of a stretch, but I'm wondering if any members have the stock 2012 J35Z5 RJE-A00 Cam Lobe heights as listed in the Honda Shop Manual? I am awaiting the delivery of my 09-12 shop manuals. Figured there might be someone out there with these specs that might share in the meantime. ;)

I am probably going to be dropping the cams in sometime this fall. Working nights on a shutdown right now so no real time.

As far as the ITB's go. I am about 6-8 weeks on having the throttle bodies returned. Had them sent out to be machined for max diameter throttle plates. Then I will be waiting on a set of custom throttle shafts that I will have made to match the new throttle plates.

So probably won't be installing that til next summer.

As of right now I am rather enjoying it as she sits. Every time I stop at lights beside another truck they seem to want to give the throttle a quick shot. I ignore them until the light turns. I seem to be leaving a lot of the big ass V8 gas guzzlers sitting at the lights! I don't think many of them are smart enough to understand the benefits of AWD and how the power to weight ratio works. ;)

Elite Few?

Elite few? I love driving this truck, it's more than just a point A - B utilitarian vehicle for me. It looks amazing and drives and handles like a sports car. More people should enjoy "driving" their Ridgeline.

It is funny that you mention racing though. Most times the guys will blow right by me once I reach the posted speed limit. I don't race it around. I don't go more than 10-13km/h over the posted speed limit. I just get there quicker! I avoid speeding tickets more this way.

Stage 2 Bisimoto Camshafts

Merry Christmas and a Happy and safe New Year to all.... :candycane:

Cheers!

I decided to roll the dice and install the stage 2 cams while I have a couple weeks off work over the holidays. 1 Day of street tuning and I am very impressed with both the sound and the very noticeable increase in throttle response and power increase. As apparent by the decrease in fuel economy...lol

I will shoot some videos once the temps rise a little bit..... -23°C without windchill.

260km worth of street, highway and back roads tuning and I pretty much have her all cleaned up. Avg 17.2 L/100km, not too shabby. It was 14.1 L/100km before the cam install. I will have to wait for warmer weather before I start doing any WOT pulls over 6k RPM. For now, partial throttle, VTEC engagement and WOT @ 6k RPM are all good to go.

This thing actually idles along the back roads @ 80/90 km/h a lot smoother than the stock cams did.

#69 ·
Thank you

Spent a bit more time on the back roads and highway today and got it down to an average of 16.4 L/100km. I think that is going to be my best average. Best I got during a 160km straight highway cruise was 13.8L/100km, cruising at 113km/h. I used to get 10.6/11.2. So I am averaging a 3L/100km gain in power...lol

She will be going on the Dyno in the near future. Can't wait to see how this thing performs after a few WOT tuning pulls.

On another note, I was doing some research into valve spring upgrades. This cam profile is said to make power into the 7200 RPM range and the stock red line is 6250 RPM. Now I know Honda would use springs that are rated for more than the red line. There is a minimum safety factor that they must use. Knowing that there aren't a lot of Ridgeline owners swapping out camshafts and dyno tuning. I had to go in search of other J series stage 2 builds. After doing some searching it seems as though most of the people swim up and spend the extra $1200 on springs and retainers. My stage 2 camshaft lobes are 36.5mm and 37.5mm in height. The Acura RL and TL Type S J35A8 camshaft lobe heights are 36.5mm and 36.4mm. After doing some part number comparisons, The stock J35Z5 uses the same valve springs and retainers as the TL Type S. Only one that has any different specs is the RL with a different exhaust valve spring. For now I'll stick with my stock springs and if the need be, buy some RL exhaust springs. I'm still breaking in the camshafts and the first track day isn't til the end of May. No need to be running 7k RPM on the streets!
