I wouldn't think that the AWD drive-by-wire, more balanced wieght profile combined with 4 wheels biting on launch would even allow you to break them loose.

The Taco was 2WD, right? Direct differential plus low weight in the rear gives a very different launch profile.

I would think with the way the VTM-4 system works, it is about as anti-burnout as possible(although I'm no expert)....I've spun the rear end around in the winter time....but I've never even approached a burn out. A friend of mine has 300+ HP Evo, and I don't think I've ever seen him burnout...perhaps you should not beat on your truck...but to each is own:)

I doubt you will find many all wheel drive vehicles that will slip a wheel under burnout conditions. You need to get a rear wheel drive V-8!

Rev it up to around 7500 rpms in Neutral, then yank it down into Drive. That should bark the tires. Of course, you'll say goodbye to your tranny and transaxle(s)....and goodness knows what else. But if it's fun, do it! Send pics.

i was thinking when reading yours, uhhhh won't i kill the tranny???, oh well its a nice fast truck even if it cant do a burn out, anyone know how it is driving on sand, i might take it down to VA Beach to meet one of my friends down there, and hey its a "party truck" with the cooler in the back, and the sound system i added to it right??

I look at the thread title and ask the same question after seeing they had Barbarella on DVD at Best Buy..........why?
I saw Barbarella for the first time when I was 15....mmmmmm Jane.

NO is not that heavy, if you compare the ridge with the taco, the tacoma has a more powerfull engine, also the tacoma is part time 4wd (RWD), while the ridgeline runs with the front tires, and only when it looses traction is when it transfers torque from the front wheels to the rear wheels, therefore you are never gonna be able to do a burn out in the ridgeline, unless you are in the snow, or like tcape said revv it up to red line in neutral and then put it in drive and said good bye tranny.LOL

Nope...

Even though the RL has a spacious rear compartment, and the situation HAS presented itself, it's against my principles to take advantage of any circumstance involving someone with a compromised ability to reason.

Stupid is as stupid does reminds me of what I did last night, showing off at a cruise night last night some guy in a 69 Chevelle SS with a 396 six pack did a burn out, I thought I would be cool and show him my little Toyota CelicaGTS can do a burn out too , so I put it in 1st, rev'd it a bit popped the clutch did a great burnout and showed him, the only problem is I'm replacing the clutch and pressure plate in my car this week-end.AT least is wasn't my RL
:(

Where to begin on how wrong some of his assumptions and assertions are!
I'd start with his errors in theory and then proceed to show how those errors led to the assertions that are at best nebulous and sometimes downright heretical. At least that's how I'd approach it.

I was admiring all the burnt rubber slung up on the doors & back fender area. Much fun clean up.

I have seen many Trailblazer SS's do AWD burn outs. Thats what you get when you combine a large v8 with a mid sized suv. :D I got all 4 wheels to spin on mine last winter. Stomp on it while on a sheet of ice, they will spin..... for a couple seconds. Then all the pretty pretty lights start flashing on the dash and the damn thing starts applying the brakes even though your foot is on the floor. I wasn't really trying for a burn out though, I just wanted to see if I could lose control. I did... the RL didn't.

Spun07RTX,
The next episode is either:
The rope breaks...Scraping the buddy off of the bling grille... And calling the paramedics.
or
Daddy (who owns the 'lade) fanning the the little brat's tailfeathers.

I recall the staement earlier..."Stupid is as Stupid does."

Way back in history there was a move called a "Harry". You would put your car in reverse and started backing up. Then while still going backwards you would drop the transmission into Drive and floor it. That would normally break the tires loose. Sometimes you did drop the tranny too.

It's been a while since this thread has been busy, but I figure I'll share my story. I have done three stand still burnouts in my Ridgeline. Lots of smoke and everything including the marks to prove it, even some tire squeel. My jacket even smelled like tire smoke after. All it takes is parking break and you give her the beans. The snowy weather makes it absolutely effortless. I have gotten full spin going 32 mph, but then it hits 2nd gear at 35 and it stops. Now it seams like any time I give it a fair amount of gas off the start cuz I think the tires are too low. The speedo even said 70 mph.

I bet the VTM-4 and trans is just about smoked like the tires since you had the back wheel locked by the parking brake. If I'm not mistaken when the front wheels spin the truck tries to lock in the rear wheels which you have the brake on. I would sure hate to buy that truck on the used market. I'm only 20 years old and enjoy a good burnout or street race every now and then, but never in my 30,000 dollar ridgeline. I have a turbo charged civic for that. Even then tires get expensive for 13" rims when it needs a set a week if I play with it much. Good luck with your truck holding up long in these conditions

No disrespect to anyone, but instead of spending money on tires doing burnouts, just drive down the road with your window down and throw money out the window so others can profit from you burning out tires instead.

I think the tires are going for about $180 a tire now?

I apologize for being negative, but when you post something on a blog expect to hear both sides(Good and Bad). I expect the same from my post now.:act024:
