Hey, thanks so much!

Yeah, i'm looking at either this one, or the Joying one. I was worried it would be too gigantic, but your picture looks like it fits that space really well.

Your steering wheel controls work fine consistently? I have an Axxess with the Pioneer, and the control comes and goes. HFT buttons working for you too?

thanks again man! It looks great. Do you happen to have the exact model number?

all the Steering controls work perfect, once I figured out that the ground wire has to be added specifically, it's not shared now. you don't need the Axxess, the Dasaita's default resistance button config worked. if I did it all again, I'd get the connectors and add the wires discussed in this thread. Honda's factory wires are TINY and are difficult to splice. Then the only thing you'd need to splice is the reverse signal wire run from the fuse box area, that one is unavoidable. I'm assuming Honda's head unit picked up reverse from the CANBUS, which this radio won't pick up on.

it's the 10.2" PX6. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WF7H49N/

Here is the list of parts I needed to get going:

• Kenwood DDX 9704S receiver
• Kenwood KAC-M3001 mono amp
• Metra-95-7811B Matte Black Double DIN Stereo Dash Kit
• Metra 70-1729 (Need 2 of these to populate missing pins since RL uses more pins than the Metra harness).
• Metra AX-CAM6V 12V to 6V Camera Stepdown
• Metra ASWC1 Steering Wheel Control Interface
• Metra 40-HD11 HONDA ANTENNA ADAPTER CABLE
• PAC USB-TY1 Toyota/Lexus OEM USB Port Retention Cable
• PAC USB-DMA Dash-Mount Adaptor for USB Accessories
• SPDT switch
• Connectors: MX34024UF1 / MX34016UF1 / MX34012UF1 (Original is MX34R08HF4T) - www.mouser.com
• Axxess AALC Remote RCA Level Controller
• Metra IBR-AK20 Amp install kit
Thanks for posting this. When shopping around for a HEAD unit for my 2009 RL there are so many different sized screens. What is the standard size to look for that fit the dash ?

Fascinating reading. I just installed a JVC KW-Z1000w in my 2019 RTL but am having issues with the screen dimming function. I replaced a pioneer DEH1500NEX that also wouldn’t dim based on the cars headlights or dash dimmer. They both act like the orange illumination wire isn’t connected. Anyone else having this issue? I looked at the schematics in the Google drive and did not see an illumination pin. Did I miss something? I also hit up maestro about supporting the 2nd gen Ridgeline too. I would love to see then vehicle metrics in the head unit.

You connect ILLUMI to pin 3 (gray) of the 16 pin CD hardness (found next to HVAC) for dimming feature.

Hello all. I just became the owner of a 2017 Ridgeline with 5" screen radio and find the radio's features to be inadequate. I have replaced head units in vehicles before, but this one seems a lot more challenging than others I have encountered. I'm not a guy who wants to rattle windows, but I do want in dash navigation and Apple Carplay. Is the KAC-M3001 the only amp I should consider since I am using a Kenwood replacement head unit, or have some of you used something else?

Did your Ridgeline have factory navigation? I was told you can't replace the head unit if you have the navigation.

This post (and following ones in that thread) discuss the 8" unit install. The issue is the 8" unit has different connectors, hence the 5" unit's adapter harness not working for it, so some workaround is needed.
Huge Thanks to @CentexG2 for the RTL-T diagram and connectors schematics. I just pulled the 8 Inch NAV out and swapped in a Kenwood DMX1037S and the standard Honda harness that Crutchfield says fits does not. There are many more connectors on the back of the 8 inch then the 5. I had to go old school and wire directly to the existing plug since my connector A is VERY different. Took a lot more time then it should have but the only thing I lost was Lanewatch and after going through the schematics I may be able to get that working eventually. On a side note this Kenwood is amazing and wireless CarPlay is sweet!

Hey All, sorry to revive an old thread, but this is the most info I have found to date. Can anyone with an 8" screen tell me about how you dealt with resetting the maintenance minder when you replaced the radio? I've got a 3rd gen Pilot and I am fed up with the crappy radio. If it wasn't for losing the ability to reset the maintenance minder, I would have done this years ago.

Thanks

IIRC, there are 2 ways to reset this. Way 1 involves following the menus in the radio. Way 2, as lone as your steering wheel has up/down arrows to change your center screen (TPMS, Oil, Odometer A, Odometer B) move the screen to the oil life screen, then hold the RESET button for 10-15 seconds. This should provide the reset without touching the factory radio.

I just registered in this forum to say big THANK YOU to Silgen. Although my car is NOT Ridgeline but 3rd gen Pilot, I used your posting to get some clues on how to install aftermarket stereo on my car.

I installed XAV-AX100, took me anout 3 hours. Everything works including steering wheel control. What's sweet is that I didn't even have to use ASWC-1 to do that. All I did was to connect 3.5mm aux cable \to A11 (GND), A22 (PIN2 or green) and A23 (PIN1 or red). I do miss AUX input but I think I used it less than 5 times since I purchased the car anyways...

Installation would have only finished quicker if I didn't have defective 6v converter. I had 7806 IC and heat sink on me so I used that instead. I originally decided to go against using that IC for 6V conversion. So I went with CAM6V instead thinking it'd be more reliable.... Guess not.
I’m currently doing this install.
on your harness it appears you have 2 aux plugs
Where did these plug into?

referring to:
Pin 2 green
Pin 1 red

What harness is this? Your radio’s?

any help appreciated
