I will be moving lots of boxes of laminate flooring. About 40lbs a box, over 100 boxes. How much can the RL hold?

Technically that's about 37.5 boxes!!!

I say be brave and put 40 in there! :act024:

Unfortuantely you will run out of square footage before you get that many in there!

Borrow a trailer and get it done all at once!

this is the correct answer from Honda. If you need to go a little above that, do so at your own risk. I wouldn't worry about anything under 1300, just drive cautiously and avoid bumps at speeds that will cause a lot of suspension compression. It's that whole static vs. dynamic load rating thing. I'd have no concern putting 2,000# in the bed, it's driving with it that could be a problem.

How large are the boxes?

To stay within the limits, you need to make 3 trips.

Carry up to 27 boxes in the bed and some in the back seat area + your weight to the max for your vehicle. If you weight 160 lbs, (4 boxes worth), you can carry 6 boxes in the rear seat area.

If you don't care about staying within the limits, let us know what you haul and take pics.

Just thought of something....I use my Ridgeline once or twice a year to haul mulch home. Doing a quick google search, I discover that the weight of mulch varies depending on the water content/time of year.....anywhere from 500 to 800 lbs a cubic yard according to some and maybe up to 1000 lbs per cubic yard according to others.

I've hauled 2 yards in my Ridgeline a couple of times. Yikes!

I hadn't ever really thought about the weight of mulch until now. Doh!!

P.S. Just 23 more posts 'till I'm in the "comma club"!!!!

OK, it turned out to be 30lbs a box. I went with 50 boxes even though I could have added more. So that is a total 1500lb load in the bed plus two people and a full tank of gas.

So as you can see by the photo the rear did sag a little, but it was not very noticable and I have seen much worse on other trucks. Below I added a detailed review of driving with this much weight. I will say I was extremely impressed overall, and was frankly a little shocked at how capable the RL was.

Engine/Drivetrain: I think this is was most supprised me. I don't know if it was the trans shifting different or the computer dialing in more aggressive engine setting, but right out of the gate the motor reponded as if there was no load. Just tip into the throttle and we were off, just like unloaded. I drove as normal, even up steep hills I did not feel like I was pushing more on the pedal. The only time I noticed any difference, was when I did a WOT pull, you could tell it was a little slower, but just barely. I bet it would have even been better with high octane.

Brakes: Another pleasant suprise. This truck has PLENTY of brakes. I felt like they performed the same as unloaded. More than enough stopping power and no problems handling the load.

Suspension/Handling: This is where I could tell there was a load in the bed, still overall I was very impressed. The steering felt a little light, and the ride was a little bouncier but very controlled. You could feel the high center of gravity with the truck leaning a little more. But there was not the side to side shifting that you get with leaf spring/solid axle trucks. It should be noted that I drove exactly the same as I normally would. Actually there were a few times were I forgot there was 1500lbs back there, I had to remind myself to slow down, thats how well it handled it.

Overall I am so impressed with this truck. I have owned 7 other trucks with the last being a F150 supercrew, and none of them would have handled this load as well as the RL did.

Oh yeah my RL has 116k on it and it driver like new. All I can say is wow!
