I used fuse post #29. It's switched for auto on/off functionality.

 

My Ridgeline is 2011 and slot 29 is being used. I google a fuse diagram and it's says slot 29 is empty but that must of been for a different model year. Was your slot empty? I guess it doesn't matter if I'm using a piggyback fuse.

Update: ended up using slot #32 ACC 7.5 amp breaker. Works great!

I didn't know what year model you have. It's not in your profile. Unfortunately, 29 is not viable for later year models. I have a '06 model.

After doing some searching, a ROCr use the power from the mirror.

How are you able to use the ignition wire behind the dash/radio and not blow that 7.5A fuse? I have a car PC, and maybe it pulls close to 7.5A as everytime I tried to hardwire my Dash Cash, I keep blowing that stupid brown fuse. I am thinking of just running a wire from under the fuse box (engine bay) and drop an in-line fuse for it, or use a separate relay to wire it up. It is annoying to see the darn wire dangling from the windshield to the power outlet.

#32 wont work for me as 7.5A is too light for the computer and dashcam, for some reason.

I have to check #29 if its unused on mine, as mine is a RT.

Is the below diagram accurate for the '09+ RL? (Dont have my shop manual around at work).

 

Where are you mounting your dashcam? Most of us mount it up by the rear view mirror, so we pull the power from the generally unused wiring for the compass mirror. The empty plug is right above drivers side courtesy (map) light. Pull the ligh/sunglasses holder, tap the yellow/green wire for switched power and of course the black for the ground. Your dashcam wires will be hidden by the mirror

 

Mine is behind the Rearview Mirror as well. I ran its supplied wiring from inside the dash, though the cap where the Light sensor would be, then Along the DR A-Pillar and into the headliner. The switched power if 5V or 12volts? How much amps do they put out?
I believe my dash cam uses 2 amps @ 5V. Read on the user manual that any under-powered 5V (meaning under 2 amps) could damage the dash cam if use constantly.

 

The source is 12v. Any reduction in voltage comes from the hard wire kit for the camera. There is usually a step-down transformer to accomplish this. Avoid using a camera harness directly to the battery and you'll fry the camera.

Thanks for the info. From the way everyone was talking, I thought there was a 5V terminal by the overhead console area. I am pulling my wires from inside the dash so that should suffice.
